Best Beauty Bits

Of course, having that Kim K flawless look isn’t always top priority when trying to hold down a job, going to the gym or studying, but here are some of my favourite beauty products to use for those more special occasions:

Face

  • Foundation

It’s important to get the right foundation for your skin, especially if you wear makeup often, as it is the base of the rest of your makeup, so here are my top five foundations:

  • Natural Collection, Boots, £1.99 – If you’re looking for an easy and cheap foundation to pop in the makeup bag, go for a Natural Collection bottle. I think this is great to hide any redness on your face, at a fab price.
  • Wake me up by Rimmel, Boots/Superdrug, £8.99 – I find this foundation a slightly better option. It comes in a much bigger bottle the the Natural Collection range and gives far better coverage without looking heavy. The Rimmel foundation also feels light on your skin, and is very easy to apply, so in my opinion this is much better value for money.
  • The Foundation, Topshop, £16.00 – I think is the coolest bottle design I have come across yet. It has a pipette to extract the foundation, and is a perfect size for traveling and every day use. The makeup feels silky smooth on your skin and lasts a lifetime. The only down side I would say, is that the price is slightly higher.
  • Studio Fix Fluid by Mac, £22.00 – if you’re really looking to splash your cash on a quality foundation, you can opt for a more high-end brand such as Mac. I would definitely recommend the ‘Studio Fix Fluid Foundation’ which includes an SPF 15 to protect your skin, and also has more of a natural matte finish, which is great for any day-to-day look. You can buy this product at any Mac store or department stores such as Harvey Nichols.
  • All in One BB Cream, Garnier, £9.99 – On the other hand, if you want to go for something more understated, there’s always the alternative of a BB cream, which basically acts like a tinted moisturiser. I think this is a great option because it covers any imperfections straight away, and doesn’t feel greasy on your skin. This BB cream is sold at participating supermarkets and chemists.

Eyes

  • Eyeliner

If you really want to make your eyes stand out, always select a strong dark eyeliner to line the bottom of your eye. Also, opt for a sleek winged eyeliner to make your look even more luxurious:

  • Kajal Kohl, Topshop, £7.00 – This is definitely the best eyeliner I have ever used. The pencil liner sharpens itself as you use it and practically lasts forever and I would definitely recommend this to anyone and everyone.
  • All Nighter Eyeliner, Urban Decay, £15.00 – A slightly more expensive option, but definitely worth it! This creamy eyeliner stays on your eyes all night (true to it’s name). The formula is waterproof so won’t budge even on those summer escapes! This can be bought at any Urban Decay store, or at larger department stores.
  • Maybelline Master Liquid Eyeliner, Boots/Superdrug, £5.99 – If you want to add extra definition to your eyes, use a liquid eyeliner to line your top eyelid. This Maybelline liner is perfect, in an easy to use pen form, and a sharp nib for flawless precision.
  • Eye shadow

To highlight your eyes, use eye shadow (with perfect blending of course) to create a look of any colour or dimension:

  • Miss Sporty Studio Colour, Boots, £2.99 – This collection of eye shadows comes with four dark and glittery colours to make your eyes pop. My personal favourite is the black and silver palette, but there is a range of colours to choose from.
  • Naked Palette, Urban Decay, £38.00 – Although slightly on the more expensive side, this eye shadow palette is the best thing I have ever bought (seriously!). Ranging from Naked 1, 2 and 3, there is a multitude of combinations to play with. The eye shadows start lighter and become darker and more mysterious as you make your way through the palette. I would definitely recommend this as a perfect birthday present to anyone interested in makeup.
  • Mascara

There are many different types of mascara for different effects on your lashes, or if you want a more dramatic effect, you can always grab some fake eyelashes for a hint of glamour:

  • They’re Real! Benefit, £19.50 – This mascara may be slightly pricey, but it is the only one I would ever recommend. The brush evenly coats your eyelashes, giving lots of volume and stays on all day and night. The mascara also lengthens your lashes and now Benefit have introduced even more colours if you’re feeling a little adventurous. This mascara is absolutely worth every penny spent, and you can buy it at Boots, or department stores like Debenhams.
  • Eyelure False Lashes, Boots, £5.39 – If your looking for something a tad more dramatic, get your hands on some fake eyelashes. These Eyelure lashes from Boots are simple and easy to use and have a perfect weightless feel, and are suitable for all eye shapes.

Eyebrows

As advocated by many celebrities, these days “it’s all about the brows”. There are lots of stages you could go through to get perfect eyebrows, but here are some quicker and easier high street buys, to get that much desired perfection:

  • Freedom Duo Eyebrow Powder, Superdrug, £4.00 – This eyebrow set is so useful and comes in around 10 different shades. The lighter shade can be used to fill in the front of your eyebrow, and the darker can fill in any areas with less hair to create the perfect brow.
  • Browzings, Benefit, £24.50 – Browzings has been the number one selling product in the UK for the past five years, and it definitely lives up to its’ reputation! This set is cute and compact, so even useful for travelling (who doesn’t want flawless brows at the airport?), and also comes with some mini tweezers for any stray hairs. I think this is the most used product in my makeup bag and I will always hold a place for it in my heart.

Lips

  • Lip liner

To get those Kylie Jenner lips, lip liner is essential. Whether it be pink and bubbly or dark and moody, there are plenty of colours to choose from:

  • Max Factor Colour Elixir, Boots, £4.99 – This lip liner really defines your lips and contains conditioning colour to soften up your lips. Your lips look fuller and this liner in particular holds your lipstick in place for up to eight hours.
  • Lip Cheat, Charlotte Tilbury, £16.00 – Lip cheat is a smooth and velvety lip liner that glides onto your lips. This liner can completely perfect your pout, and is also waterproof, so you don’t have to worry about any smudges on holiday, keeping your lipstick in place all day and night,
  • Lipstick

Of course, if you’re buying a lip liner, you need a lipstick to go without it, so here are a few of my absolute favourites:

  • Clinique Chubby Stick, Boots, £17.00 – This nourishing lipstick is full of shea butters to make your lips feel soft and smooth again. The biggest plus to this lip crayon, is that it never needs sharpening, and just winds up when it becomes blunt. There are also plenty of different colours to choose from, or combine the two to create your own.
  • L’Oreal Colour Riche Made for Me, Boots, £6.99 – This lipstick is less of a bite out of your budget and contains lots of nourishing minerals to look after your lips. I prefer the nude colour in this range, but there are plenty to choose from, one for every day of the week.
