LUXE Models know Fake Tan can be difficult to get right. Getting a tan under the sun or inside a tanning bed can be bad for your skin and health, but spray tans and lotions can come out looking streaky and unnatural.

Last week LUXE Models gave five tips to applying fake tan. Here, we consider what to do once the tan has been applied to perfect your look.

Contour

Contour your cheekbones with a small sponge brush and a self-tanner that’s made specifically for your face. This will shave time off of your morning routine and make the self-tanning process simpler. You can also define your abs, legs, and arms in the same way.

Exfoliate your hands

Use an exfoliator on your hands after you’ve applied the tan. Scoop a small amount of scrub onto the middle of your palms and gently rub your hands together. Even if you used a mitt to apply the tan, there’s still time for it all to go wrong and you don’t know how much leftover tanner has touched the skin. Honestly, it’s not worth the risk!

Clean your hands

Use a makeup wipe to remove the exfoliator from your hands The last thing you want to do while allowing your self-tanner to dry and develop is get your skin wet, and the alcohol in the wipes will help remove any tanner from your palms.

Nails

Use a cotton swab or makeup wipe to remove the tanner on your nails and cuticles. This simple tip will make your hands look flawless – so long as you’ve applied the tanner evenly. Gently rub each nail bed and cuticle with a wipe or cotton swab to prevent orange hands and fingers!

Prevent creases

Lightly pat areas such as your armpits, elbows, and knees with a talc-free baby powder to prevent creases in those areas. Dust on some powder to keep your skin from sweating off your tanner as it develops before you get dressed – that will help as your tan develops. Baby body wash and oil-free lotion will help to maintain your tan evenly and naturally.
