Fashion: GRAMMYs vs BAFTAs – Who wore the best dress?

The Grammys and the Baftas are two of the biggest award ceremonies of the year on either side of the Atlantic, with as much of an emphasis on who wears what, as who wins which award. Here, LUXE Models consider some of the best dresses on show in each event.

GRAMMYs

Creative colours

Taylor Swift could dazzle the crowd wearing anything she likes, and she proved this was the case in a custom-made two-piece ensemble at the GRAMMYs. Accompanied with Versace and Stuart Weitzman heels, her coral crop top and daring magenta silk skirt showed her curves in all the right places.

Lady Gaga deserves a mention for her David Bowie tribute, including her dyed red hair and custom Marc Jacobs dress, along with incredibly tall red heels. She never does things by halves, and should be applauded for her flamboyance.

Conservative class

Representing the UK at the GRAMMYs was Adele, fresh from her appearance on the front cover of Vogue. In a black sparkly dress by Givenchy Haute Couture by Riccardo Tisci, she showed off her new trim shape and looked the real deal.

Black was also the order of the night for the likes of Alessandra Ambrosio, Bella Hadid, Zendaya, Carrie Underwood and many more, but none pulled it off better than Anna Kendrick. In her mesh cut out Emanuel Ungaro, the 30-year-old Twilight star looked sexy, classy and sophisticated.

BAFTAs

Cate Blanchett caught the eye in a tasselled top by Alexander McQueen. The 46-year-old is renowned for her bold fashion choices and wore a full tasselled black skirt to accompany her multi-coloured top.

It’s safe to say that Kate Winslet owned this year’s BAFTAs with a beautiful, flowing black Antonio Berardi dress which showed off her near-perfect hips. The 40-year-old has a tried and tested Red Carpet formula but this was arguably her best so far.

Kiss Cam

The BAFTAs saw Alicia Vikander embellish herself with a full-length grey Louis Vuitton dress, including some of the most beautiful beading ever worn on the red carpet. The star of the Danish Girl caused controversy when she rejected Michael Fassbender in the BAFTA Kiss Cam, but her dress was simply stunning.

Dame Maggie Smith looks great for 81 and didn’t have such issues on the Kiss Cam, as she bagged a smooch with Leo DiCaprio. She’s appeared in over 50 films since her screen debut in 1952, and she looks as great as ever.

Modelling

It’s safe to say that the celebrities all scrub up well, and it’s impossible to miss some of the designer and big name dresses on the red carpet. But you don’t have to wear designer clothes to get noticed for modelling. With the right portfolio, you can break into modelling and LUXE Models can help.
