Style tip: How to Sit gorgeously

This Style tip goes further than clothing into how to use the lines of your body to bring elegance to any outfit you want to wear. While trousers make sitting with your legs apart more acceptable, lolloping around will not impress that boss who we want a job from, the cute guy sitting across from us or make people feel at ease accept when you are in your own home watching tv. I hope you don't mind that i am a little blunt with some of the explanations.

Which of these three pictures directly below look elegant to you?

Common mistakes include:

  • Leaving legs falling open, I call this the take me now position.
  • twisting legs into strange positions, often makes legs look short and fat becuase there is no beauty lines for the eyes to follow.
  • fidgeting and moving around a lot, implies to those around that you are not focused or disciplined to stay still.
  • leaving oneself exposed  unwittingly, often by resting one leg at right angles to the one left on the floor.

Picture 1: top leg is twisted, Picture 2: bending down with legs open, Picture 3: both legs are twisted

Suggestions for elegance

Pictures of elegant leg positions that will make you look elegant, flatter your legs and show a confidence through a simple gesture in your body language.

Picture 1 directly above brings the knees together for a more relaxed look.

Picture 2 is a nice crossed leg position without twisted legs giving a flattering line and shape to the legs.

Picture 3 is an elegant take on crossed legs taking the feet to one side creating a diagonal look on the legs. This is also much more comfortable for the hips for most people meaning you can stay comfortable longer.

Picture 4 is great if you don't want to cross legs and keeps both legs using your hip joint in this position more naturally. humans weren't designed to sit preferring the laying down or stand positions.

Picture 5 is a variation on 1 with the free leg going to the front rather than to the side.

Picture 6 is an elegant position for picking up something from the floor, especially if you have a short skirt or dress on. It helps to avoid indecent exposure or at the least exposure you didn't want to make.

I hope this helps. This article is not meant to take us back into the dark ages with women walking around with books on their heads. But if we want to wear clothing successfully some of those great tips from the old days still apply.
