Fashion files... Haute Couture to street fashion

This is Article uno covering many of the top influencers in Fashion both Haute couture and street fashion. If you are anything like me when I started in this world, it was difficult to know who these people were and their significant influence on our everyday choices in fashion. Not to mention how to pronounce their names. Keep a look out for these articles which include a brief introduction, wrap sheet and personal take on the style and the influences it has had. I hope you enjoy.

Karl Lagerfeld

While Chanel has always been a favourite for me, the discovery a while back about the oler fashion houses having more than one designer and how often the younger one takes over as the original retires. In this case Karl Lagerfeld took over the title of head designer of Channel.

Designer, artist and photographer are amongst some of the titles this man holds in the fashion world. As head designer for Chanel, Fendi and head of his own brand, Karl Lagerveld is a busy man. When asked about the message of his collections he is often referring to them as a proposition for whats possible rather than a fashion concept that must be followed. His thought process and usage of different style shoes for the models is also fascinating. While accepting of other designers use of stilettos as a style he appears to prefer a broad range of heel heights and platforms come into use a lot.

I love the accentuation of the waistline in many of his pieces and the play between old and new. Including influences from strong cultures like the new Cruise Dubai collection of 2015. Coupled with creative use of layering which adds depth to many pieces and strong clean lines with others that keeps the feeling of inventive design alive. The classic Coco Chanel look taking this timeless elegance and keeping it modern.
