It’s with great pleasure and excitement, that we introduce and welcome Spida Sports’ newest brand ambassador, Dayne Taylor.
Dayne is a fisherman from Coffs Harbour NSW. He was born into a Fishing family with his father’s side owning commercial fishing boats. It was inevitable that he too would catch the fishing bug.
Dayne is associated with a couple of local fishing clubs; he’s been on the committee for the Urunga Angler’s Club for about 5 years now, and they have been running the biggest Flathead Tournament in NSW with over 350 competitors participating in 2015.
He’s also an active member of the newly formed Coffs Coast Fly Fishing Club. If you are around the Coffs area, why not check them out!
The best tournament for Dayne, was taking out his maiden win in the Gamakatsu Team Series Bream Tournament held at Port Macquarie, his bag of 5 fish was over 1kg heavier than the guys that finished in second place. That’s one he will never forget!
We asked Dayne what his favourite fish to catch was. Not surprisingly, coming from Coffs he is spoilt for choice, so it was a near impossible question to give just one. So here are his top 6, 2 from each habitat.
- Freshwater – The Australian Bass and Murray Cod
- Estuarine – The humble old Bream and Mangrove Jack
- Offshore – Speedy Spanish Mackerel and Snapper
Now here comes the old cliché… ‘Behind every great fisherman, is a great women’. When Dayne isn’t fishing, he loves to get away outdoors with his wife Sally and little grommets (as Dayne calls ‘em) Ruby and Archie.
Well Sally, AKA ‘The fishing widow’ as she calls herself, we sincerely apologise in advance if this new venture keeps Dayne out and about fishing for longer. We will take the blame….
