Meet the Designers

We are fortunate to have an array of local designers represented in our boutique, and we love each one of them! But two designers are the queens of prints and we want to take a moment to show all that they have to offer. In addition, we have exciting news to announce! On Saturday, April 28th from 11am-7pm and Sunday, April 29th from 10am-6pm, Show Pony will be hosting a party! On Sunday, designers Tuesday and Clutch Handbags will be in the Fremont store!

Interested yet? Just wait. We will have goodies to snack on while you shop, as well as beverages to keep you hydrated. This will be a unique opportunity to meet the women behind the product and hear more of their stories. At Show Pony, we believe that the degree of separation between consumer and producer should be zero; that’s the beauty of shopping small.

Clutch Handbags are based on Vashon Island, although originally began on the vibrant tropical Hawaiian island of Kauai. The owner, of the vibrant bags, Caroline Tucker, is fueled by color, pattern, functionality, and fashion. She says,

“The soothing colors of the ocean, the patterns found in flowers and ferns, and the natural beauty of island life provided inspiration for a line of fun and functional accessories.”

Tropical by origin, made with you in mind!

The Clutch line is still naturally evolving. With a variety of sizes and functions, each bag serves whatever purpose you dub it. Caroline creates these bags with care and is dedicated to lasting quality.

If this line intrigues you, or if you’re a Clutch veteran and need a new spring pattern, stop by and meet Caroline and design your own Clutch bag, with a pattern that embodies your unique style! Watch your vision come to life with this cool opportunity.

Our other designer is Rian Robison of Tuesday. By happenstance, Rian walked into Show Pony one day and owner, Stephanie, complimented Rian’s scarf. Rian responded that she was the creator, and thus began the relationship between Show Pony and Tuesday. We are proud to be Tuesday’s very first retailer!

Tuesday has faux fur cowl Scarves, raw silk blanket scarves, circle scarves, and the versatile silk selvedge scarves. But they don’t just carry scarves! One of our most popular in-store items is the silk kimono by Tuesday.

So many lovely silk patterns!

Located in the International District in Seattle, Tuesday is a collection of various cultures. Rian is inspired both by her recent trip to Paris and also Japanese textiles. She has spent copious time researching, experimenting, and developing the completely unique dye techniques featured in her new line. On the Tuesday website, Rian says,

“Whether painting with algae-thickened dye directly on the fabric or working in small batches to perfectly control color gradients, each piece is created from scratch.”

Each kimono is different from its sister. Made from a lightweight semi-sheer woven 100% rayon hand-dyed fabric from professional quality fiber reactive dyes, these scarves and kimonos are detail-oriented and made with care. Tuesday is also intentional in its creative process, utilizing whole peoples of fabric without scraps from irregular cuts in the rectangular design of the minimalist kimono- we love how sustainable this is!
