Your Lettuce Burger Questions, Answered

Recently, this Lettuce burger has taken Reddit and imgur by storm. Who would have thought that something so seemingly simple as a burger between lettuce would be so impressive? Truth is, I have had many lettuce burgers before but this one was different (in a good way). It was hard to keep up with all the comments and reply to questions that were constantly being asked (I tried responding in the comments but it just got buried). So I decided the best way would be to answer them in a post.

Lettuce begin.

There were lots of questions as to why I would get a lettuce burger to begin with. Simple answer? I just wanted one. This burger was from Real Sports Bar in Toronto, Canada. No, I am not on a keto diet. (I didn’t even know what that was and had to go to /keto to figure it out). You can read more about this here.

A lot of people were also commenting on the fries that were “so unhealthy”. Yes, I admit they are but I don’t (really) care about carbs or my caloric intake (thank you to those who defended me or gave their reasons, especially those mathematical ones). So yes, those fries were COMPLETELY necessary.

Can we take a moment to appreciate these puns before we move on?

Moving on to the actual burger, I expected the burger to come on two pieces/leaves of lettuce. Not a whole head of it. They literally took a whole lettuce head, sliced it in half, and put everything in. I am not complaining, it was just unexpected. The burger overall was good. I thoroughly enjoyed the crisp and crunch of the lettuce leaves. I prefer to have my patties wrapped in lettuce because the ratio of bun to patty is always off or it gets super soggy or it’s too dry or I end up not eating the bun anyway so I’d rather save them a bun and get extra lettuce.

I will admit it was slightly difficult to eat. I just ended up peeling lettuce leaves apart and ate it with the meat that way. I wish I had thought of this idea.

I felt super healthy eating it and I’m glad I got fries to balance it out. The fries themselves were slightly soggy and as a fan of crisp fries, was not impressed but they were passable. The burger also had guacamole on it which was a major bonus. If you don’t like guac, you’re crazy. It is freaking delicious.

You can definitely make your own lettuce burger at home. It’s really not that much different than a regular burger. Instead of putting lettuce on top of your patty, just wrap everything in it and of course, leave out the bun.
