Remember that time your Brother put on your flower dress and acted like a complete goof? Remember that time he pushed you into the fountain? Or that time he decided it would be nice to cut your hair in your sleep or fart in your face? Brothers are so endearing.

Somehow, between all the hair pulling and fart jokes, he grew up. One day you wake up and you Realize that your little brother has transformed himself into a gentleman (sort of). He is no longer the obnoxious, bratty little brother you once knew. He has matured and you realize that he is the best male figure in your life.

He’ll always know if something’s wrong. He won’t necessarily ask you about it but he’ll know. So he’ll be extra kind and ask if you need anything. He’ll sit with you, just to be there. Just in case you want to talk. But if you don’t, that’s okay too. He just gives you a nice shoulder to lean on.

He won’t be nice to you all the time though. He’ll always tell you when you’re acting like a raging bitch or overreacting. He keeps you level headed and makes you reconsider the situation. He won’t sugar coat things to make you happy and he’ll tell you if you’re getting fat.

He tells you that when you were younger he looked up to you and thought you were the coolest person ever. He thought you were the smartest person and always asked you about things. It hits you right in the heart, and now you realize you look up to him.

You will fight (because that’s what siblings do) but he will always forgive you. He knows that you don’t mean what you say half the time (it’s that time of month). He will give you space and then be there when you’re done being crazy. He will forgive you, and you will go back to being best friends.

You think it’s silly that he’s so worried about you but you know he’s being protective. He wants to make sure that you are taken care of. He wants to make sure you are safe. Sometimes you think he’s the older sibling in your relationship and you’re okay with that.

He’ll tell you that he wasn’t good enough and you should be glad that it’s over. He will tell you he was too dumb or ugly or unmotivated. He will tell you all this not because it’s what you want to hear but because he genuinely believes it. No one will ever be good enough for his big sis.

You will compare your boyfriends to your brother because he makes you realize that good guys are possible. He will set the bar so high that you will find it difficult to date but you realize it’s for the better. Why waste your time on people that aren’t worth your time? This will make your brother happy because he doesn’t want you dating assholes.

He’s getting older, which means he’s getting smarter and wiser. You love him and are happy he’s doing well but you can’t help but get a little jealous. You want to make sure you’re one step ahead of him. So you push yourself to take another course, learn another language, or something else to make sure you aren’t overshadowed by him. Healthy competition right?

Whether you’re having a rough day or a rough week, he will always know how to make you laugh. He will say something stupid or bring up a funny memory and you will temporarily forget about your troubles. You always have fun when you’re together and that makes you happy.
