WMCFW S/S 2015: Pink Tartan

Fashion cycles, and if this year was devoted to trends for the 90’s, then be prepared for the 70’s. Not only were Pink Tartan’s designs 70’s inspired, but the entire atmosphere set us back in time. What started out as models decked out in fringe walking to country inspired rock then evolved into pajama prints and white accent piping walking in stride to psychadelic rock music.

If fringe wasn’t in the designs then it was for sure in the accessories. We saw tons of fringed earrings as well as tassel necklaces that were very reminiscent of the 70’s era. We’re predicting a huge Woodstock-esque revival this year so be ready to raid your mothers’ closets and go thrift shopping for some suede fringe vests.

What we loved the most about the collection though was its casual comfort. Besides fringe, gauzes and silks were a mainplayer in Pink Tartan’s S/S 2015 collection. And we can all agree that silk is a dream to wear! The flowy silhouettes allowed the models to gracefully walk and show off the movement of the clothes without ever sacrificing style to discomfort.

Pink Tartan also proved to us that matching sets are still just as popular going into the new year regardless of what era the designers are inspired by. Pajama style silhouettes are also still all the rage, and both trends worked well together in a neon pink and orange floral palette. Although we loved what we were all wearing to the show, it was a unanimous decision that we’d all rather be wearing comfy silk PJ’s as opposed to what we had on.

And if there was one thing we loved the most, it was how calm, cool and collected each model was strutting down that runway. We’d definitely feel just as empowered wearing any of Pink Tartan’s pieces and walking to their soundtrack.
