Manicure Monday: Floral Pop

Floral prints and patterns are still in this spring/summer seasons, so let’s milk it while we can! A clever way to work floral into your style is with this week’s Manicure Monday: floral pop nail art. It’s easy to do, and even the least steady hand can accomplish this one.

Apply a base coat.

Self-explanatory. It protects your natural nail and gives you a smoother base to work on. We love OPI’s Natural Nail Base Coat.

Apply a mint blue base.

Mint blue is perfect for this summer season, and creates a clean background for the floral pattern to contrast against. We are using Essie’s Borrowed & Blue.

Create the flower petals.

Use a dotting tool (or a bobby pin, or end of a pencil) to dot five dots that will be the petals of the flower. A bright orange like Essie’s Fear or Desire is the perfect pop of color and contrast for this look.

Dot the middle of the flower.

Now, simply dot the middle of your flower with a yellow. We are using China Glaze’s Lemon Fizz.

Create a trail of dots.

Create two trial of dots with a white polish. If you have a steadier hand, try going from larger dots to smaller ones for a more detailed looked. We are using OPI’s Alpine Snow.

Apply a top coat.

And of course, to seal it all off and leave an awesome shine, apply a top coat. We are loving this one from OPI.

Finished!
