Mondays Suck: How To Get Rid Of The Post-Holiday Blues

Damn, Christmas is over. The most anticipated season of the year, where you get loosen up and eat tons of turkey and stuffing. If you’re like us, your 5 day Vacation is gone, and you’re back to work again on a dreary Monday. What’s there to look forward to? If you’re thinking that everything is going downhill, then think again.

Being back to the office or school is a dreary task — one that no one wants to face. Having been away on vacation for so many days leaves you wondering the endless possibilities of spending actual free time to yourself. How do you get yourself out of the post vacation funk?

1. Chase away the blues with some soul (music)

Turn up the music. Play whatever gets you in the mood (but please don’t replay the songs of that band you went to see last friday — that will make you miss it even more). Play some relaxing but cheery songs that will remind you that you’ve done it all before, there’s nothing new to be feeling now. Our recommendations include the end of the year pop anthem.

2. Chill with your co-workers/classmates again

It’s been almost a full week since you’ve probably seen most of them. Even though you thought that you probably didn’t miss them while you were gone, seeing them again makes everything a lot better. Go out with them on lunch break and talk about what happened while you were away from each other! Relive your moments in each others’. If you hate all your co-workers and your classmates, then ignore this tip.

3. Make plans with your friends outside of work

Just because the holidays are over, it doesn’t mean you can’t go out and have fun anymore. Instead of being dreary at home, why not plan out some dates for the new few weeks? Just because the holidays are over, doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the festivities still going on. Catch up with a few buddies after work, and relinquish the best deals from those Happy Hour specials.

4. Start following through with your resolutions

Always wanted to learn to cook? Start by doing it after work! Wanna brush up on your artistry? Grab a pencil and get to it. Wanna lose a couple of pounds? Start hitting the gym! There’s always endless things to learn and to motivate yourself into doing that you couldn’t do in the holidays. Get off your butt and DO rather than THINK.

5. Start realizing that real life isn’t so bad after all

Hey, you got through enough years as it is. Don’t be brought down by your everyday life. Everyone has to face reality sooner or later, and the sooner you do — the more you’ll get in the future.

No but really,  after all’s said and done, we feel ya. But don’t worry, like all of us, you’ll make it through!
