in celebration of the legendary marque’s 70th anniversary: Sir Stirling Moss, Michael Schumacher and Steve Mcqueen. The Stirling is an F12 Berlinetta inspired by the 250 GT Berlinetta SWB in blue and white livery that Moss drove to victory in the 1961 Touring Trophy, while The Schumacher is a red 488 GTB paying homage to the F2003-GA that the famed champion drove to six victories during the F1 driving and constructors’ world championships in 2003. And The Steve McQueen is a California T tribute to the brown 1963 250 GT Berlinetta Lusso that the King of Cool famously adored. |
| Added to the three cars linked to famous names are two other eye-popping homage rides: The Green Jewel, a 488 Spider in the livery of the 365 P2 campaigned by the David Piper Racing Team, a privateer British club which won the Nine Hours of Kyalami in 1965 and 1966 and the Trophee d’Auvergne at Clermont-Ferrand in 1966; and another 488 Spider inspired by the iconic 1953 Pinin Farina-bodied 375 MM with a three-layer Bianco Italia exterior topped off with a blue racing stripe. Only 70 of the tribute liveries distributed over 350 cars will be available in 2017 from Ferrari’s Tailor Made division – the automotive equivalent of bespoke suits. Count us in. |
