It really hasn’t been a very good year for former Dance Moms star Abby Lee Miller. Last May, Miller was sentenced to 366 days in prison for bankruptcy fraud. Her sentence was to be followed by two years of supervised release. Additionally, Miller was ordered to pay the $120,000 judgement and fined $40,000. She reported to the Victorville Federal Correctional Institution in California in July to begin serving her sentence.

Last month, Miller was transferred to a supervised halfway house, where she would receive job counseling and placement and financial management assistance. But two weeks after Miller was transferred, she was rushed to the emergency room.

Miller eventually underwent surgery for what doctors believed was a spinal infection. The infection, as it turns out, is actually non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma is a type of cancer that develops in the lymphatic system. While doctors are cautiously optimistic about her prognosis, there are still more tests to be done to determine the staging of the cancer, and what treatments Miller will need to undergo. For now, Miller is recovering from her surgery while doctors figure out the next steps.
