I don’t know if things have just gotten worse or if with social media and widespread digital news if we’re hearing this more often, but bullying is out of hand. There are kids out there who are taunting and teasing their classmates to a level that makes my heart ache. I don’t understand how anyone could be as cruel. But, when it’s a child who is able to come up with these mean ideas — and then follow through with them — it’s mind-blowing. What makes a bully? Why do they seem to be getting worse?

One family is reeling from a bully incident that has traumatized a young teen. During the years where kids should be wondering about what they are going to do after school or navigating young love. The teen years where you are battling to become who you want to be and find our place. The last thing you should have to deal with is someone who is just being mean. There are some pranks, usually between friends, that can be funny. But that’s not what happened to this 16-year-old girl.

She was targeted, it was planned, and now she is left humiliated while her mom is fighting for something to be done about the bully.
