A 19-year-old Colorado teen with a history of mental illness has been accused of murder in the stabbing deaths of two of his Younger Siblings.
Police say Malik Murphy has been arrested on suspicion of two counts of murder after his 7 year old brother and 5 year old sister were stabbed to death in their home.
Police say the teen’s father, Jefferson Murphy, was upstairs in the family home sleeping upstairs with his wife when he heard screaming coming from the basement. When he confronted his oldest son he suffered a non life threatening injury as well. He was able to restrain his son in the garage until authorities arrived.
When police arrived on the scene they did all they could to save the two children, but five-year-old Sophia Murphy and seven-year-old Noah Murphy were pronounced dead at the hospital.
The teen allegedly told police after his arrest that he wanted to be ‘home alone’ which is why he carried out the attack on his younger siblings. Sadly, this attack seemed to be part of a much larger and more tragic plan the teen had for his family that included killing everyone and burying them in the back yard.
