Blogger + Sister Of The Bride: Take Notes Ladies

When Trishala decided to tie the knot to Rinken Vora there was little doubt that sartorial choices would be the focus of the wedding festivities. The #VorafoundSikka was certainly trending on the Indian blogosphere and with good reason. Both Trishala and Shereen looked absolutely gorgeous but this post is dedicated to Shereen for being the ultimate sister of the bride fashion star.

Engagement

Kicking things off with the engagement that took place a few months before the actual wedding, Shereen gave everyone a sneak peak into what to expect from her sister of the bride style. For the afternoon ceremony she picked a floral embroidered turquoise and pink lehenga by Tarun Tahiliani. The panelled lehenga featured different prints on each section and she even wore theme appropriate charms in her hair do. Now that’s complete commitment to the event!

Engagement Party

A new concept amongst young Indian couples is to celebrate the engagement with a party. The modern couple went did just that and Shereen was in proper party mode for the event. She chose a navy blue embellished gown by Arpita Mehta that featured a cape jacket and thigh high slit. Tousled tresses and a bold red lip finished off this edgy look.

Chowki

Few months of preparations and it was time for the wedding festivities to begin with the mata ki chowki. A traditional ceremony seeking the blessings of the Gods for the couple’s union and happy future that usually happens at home. Shereen wore a high-neck Benarasi kurta by Raw Mango. The eggplant hued lightweight creation also featured very handy pockets so she could carry out any sister of the bride duties with ease. A twisty bun ensured that Shereen looked appropriately traditional with a contemporary flair.

Haldi & Mehendi

Shereen continued with her penchant for fuss free dressing at the haldi and mehendi ceremonies as well. She picked a Sabyasachi Mukherjee sharara set with mixed prints for the outdoor event. It was a refreshing departure from wearing a lehenga while also being totally on-point with the current flavour of the season.

Wedding

There was nothing restrained about Shereen’s look for the wedding ceremony as she fully embraced her sister of the bride role. Dressed in a heavily embellished ivory lehenga by Tarun Tahiliani, she definitely made a case for reinventing the classics. An all-white ensemble with pink accents paired with a dupatta cinched in at the waist with a bejewelled belt ticked all the right boxes. The ensemble was gorgeous, chic, timeless and practical all rolled into one.

Cocktail Brunch

Yet another departure from the norm was doing away with a boring formal reception and having a cocktail brunch instead. The more relaxed atmosphere is much more conducive to having a memorable time with friends and family. And the couple has time to actually mingle and spend time with their guests. Shereen was dressed to let her hair down at the brunch in a pastel grey-blue vintage lehenga by Jade minus the cumbersome dupatta. Label designers Monica and Karishma upped the glam quotient of the outfit but adding in a sexy backless tie-up blouse to match the delicate modern embroidery. The ease and comfort of this design made it prime for dancing for hours – the ultimate cherry on top of a luscious sister of the bride fashion cake.
