5 Best Azzaro Colognes (2023) – You Need A Few

Azzaro.

A brand that you need in your collection.

This review will describe the five best Azzaro colognes for men. I will detail their smell, performance, and anything else you need to know. Are all their fragrances good? No. Are the ones on this list outstanding? Yes.

#5 – Azzaro Chrome Aqua

From the start, this is an extremely fresh and aquatic fragrance. I can smell all the top notes: violet leaf, grapefruit, and apple. Violet leaf is by far the most prominent. It has the typical ozonic and airy aroma.

Fresh and citric grapefruit plays second fiddle in the background with semi-sweet apple nuances, peaking in and out for the first few minutes. All top notes are supported by a decent dose of sea notes. These are never salty but are aquatic.

The mid doesn’t change much. The grapefruit and apple notes have faded. Violet leaf and sea notes are by far the most prominent. There is a subtle green tinge, but not prevalent enough for me to determine the note.

The dry-down finishes as fresh, green, and aquatic. Cypress is the green nature, but it never made itself explicitly known.

Chrome Aqua lasts six hours on the skin with light projection. The first hour pushes out an arm’s length. After this period, it drastically recedes to a soft ambiance. At hour six, it is a skin scent. This is exclusively spring and summer wear for casual occasions.

#4 – Azzaro Wanted by Night EDP

The opening starts with a decent dose of refreshing lemon. Unfortunately, it is fleeting, but it captures your attention and leads into the “meat” of the fragrance. Cinnamon and Cumin accompany lemon in the background. All are balanced by a rich benzoin note.

Cinnamon will be the most prevalent spice for the rest of the wear. When I first read about lemon with cinnamon, I didn’t know how to feel, but once I actually smelled it, it was more pleasant than I thought.

The last thing I’ll mention before the mid and base description. Many people will say Cumin smells like “BO,” but it never comes across as such in Wanted by Night. Only supporting the cinnamon spice. I am clarifying this in case another reviewer doesn’t articulate this correctly.

There is almost a complete transition from the top notes to the base and mid notes.

The citruses and benzoin fade. Woodsy and tobacco notes take over like a tidal wave. As the scent progresses, they continually get stronger. The cinnamon carries over from the opening. The rest of wear it’s the only spiced note I can smell with the woody, tobacco, and now incense combination.

The longevity is in the six to seven-hour range with average projection. It pushes out an arm’s length for the first one to two hours. After this period, it is a mild ambiance for the rest of the wear. This is exclusively fall and winter wear but for all occasions.

#3 – Azzaro Chrome Extreme

Bright and awakening sea notes lead the opening with salty aquatic undertones. It has a very realistic, airy ocean vibe, similar to being at a beach and taking a deep breath.

Within a few minutes is the addition of a zesty orange note that adds a citric and fruity sweetness. Combined with the aquatics is a refreshing blend of citrus and aquatics.

The further the scent develops, the more interesting it gets. Juicy Juniper adds in the mid and completely changes the scent profile. It has a fresh, “juicy” aroma that pairs well with the orange note. However, its most prominent accent is a pine-type accord.

This is where a heavy dose of aromatics comes from. It is never dirty or earthy, just fresh and slightly woody. Juniper weakens the strength of the aquatics in the base. As the dry-down develops, the void is filled by the warmth and depth of an amber accord.

It lasts seven hours on the skin with average projection. It pushes out a couple of feet the first few hours before receding. This is best for spring and summer wear for all occasions.

#2 – Azzaro The Most Wanted

The Most Wanted EDP immediately begins with a blast of cardamom leading the opening. Its slightly sweet nature evokes a warm and comforting aroma. There are nuances of toffee in the background. But the spices are so dominant that they can’t quite shine yet.

After a few minutes, alluring toffee shoves cardamom into the background. It jumps to the forefront, bringing amber wood with it. The rest of the wear is just this pair with faint spice. At this point, the base is an excellent balance between spicy and sweet accents. To my nose, it’s woody and creamy.

The Most Wanted lasts eight to ten hours on the skin with above-average projection. The first three hours, it pushes out past an arm’s length. After this, it recedes to a mild ambiance for the rest of the wear. This is exclusively spring and summer for all occasions.

#1 – Azzaro The Most Wanted Parfum

The first one to two hours is mostly red ginger. It comes across as very fresh with a zingy and invigorating quality. There is a touch of sweetness, and the mid and base notes are present, but not like ginger. The opening is decent, but nothing to drool over.

As the scent progresses, it gets exponentially better. The mid of the fragrance is a subtle wood with vanilla. Neither is at full strength yet. There is still sweetness, but the powdery quality is the most prevalent.

Once in the dry-down, sweet vanilla dominates. The woodiness has gotten deeper and picked up a slightly smoky quality. It provides the perfect balance to the vanilla so that the sweetness never gets too overpowering.

The Most Wanted Parfum lasts eight to ten hours on the skin with moderate and consistent projection. This is fall, winter, and early spring wear for all occasions.

Final Words

So why do I speak so highly of Azzaro colognes? Hopefully, all these reviews have proved why to you, but… if you’re not quite sold yet, I’ll help you.

The winter fragrances on this list are priced no higher than your typical high-end designer fragrance. While the Chrome fragrances on this list are in the $30 -$40 range on discounters. I have reviewed 400-500 colognes on this website. I’m struggling to think of a summer fragrance as high quality, good performance for the same or lower price.

Back to the The Wanted line. The Most Wanted Parfum is one of the most alluring fragrances AND one of the best vanilla fragrances for men. While The Most Wanted EDP is an excellent bad-body date night fragrance.

I recommend having a “The Most Wanted” fragrance and a “Chrome” fragrance; whichever you choose will be great.

After you try an Azzaro cologne, I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
