3 Best Ferragamo Colognes (2023) Full Review

Salvatore Ferragamo.

It’s a small brand but one worth checking out.

This review will describe the three best Ferragamo colognes. I will detail their smell, performance, and anything else you need to know. The best part is all of these fragrances are quality and affordable.

#3 – F Black by Salvatore Ferragamo

The first spray is attention-grabbing. There is an equal blast of sharp black pepper and lavender. The pepper isn’t “sneeze-inducing,” but it sure is invigorating. Think of it like jumping into a cold shower. It provides a nice contrast to the calm and classy lavender.

For the rest of the wear, this duo dominates.

As the Scent progresses, crisp apple and tonka bean nuances are added. Both are fresh and sweet. Yet, the idea of each is to amplify the qualities of lavender. As the dry down develops, lavender becomes dominant and more complex.

At first, it came across as fresh and sweet, but now that the pepper has faded, it gains clean and soapy qualities. The rest of the wear is all about classy lavender with its new accents. Everything from the top and mid are just supporting nuances.

F Black lasts nine hours on the skin with moderate projection. This can be worn in the spring, fall, and winter. I have tried it in the summer, but it got too intense on the hot days. As for occasions, it is all. It shines on dates and at formal events.

#2 – Salvatore Ferragamo Uomo EDT

The opening is all about sweet accords. It is led by literal sweet notes and a coffee-like aroma. Underneath is a layer of cardamom and pepper spice. The spices are never “assaulting” but amplify the sweetness with their warmth.

The mid gains an orange blossom note with citric, fresh accents; it is noticeable, but its main job is balancing out the intense sweetness. In the background is a prominent dose of ambroxan. It is warm and musky. It will give Uomo a solid backbone as the scent develops.

The dry down adds tonka bean and sandalwood. The spicy coffee is present but with weakened strength, and the ambroxan is an intense warmth beneath all notes. Tonka Bean is the most prominent, retaining the heavy sweetness of the scent but taking it in a creamier direction.

The rest of the wear is sweet, creamy amber, and wood tones with lingering spicy coffee nuances.

The longevity is in the five to six-hour range with light projection. The coffee accord is noticeable in the first two hours, and the projection is decent. Once the scent finishes its development, it recedes to a skin scent for the rest of the wear. This is fall and winter wear for special occasions.

#1 – Salvatore Ferragamo Uomo Signature EDP

The opening is strong and masculine but also sweet at the same time. In this case, the sweetness is more charming than playful. Orange and pink pepper are the first initial blast. Within a minute, the top notes are overtaken by more prominent notes.

These are cypress with cinnamon and tonka bean. Often times you will pick up a coffee note as well. One thing that is for sure is that this scent changes after the first few minutes and throughout the middle. The different notes are constantly competing with one another.

Once in the dry down, the scent settles. It is still sweet with coffee, tonka bean, and leather. All work together, and none overpower each other. Leather is the heavier accord and acts as the base, while the other two work off with that. So, it’s an interesting scent but still masculine and mature.

The performance is slightly above average. It lasts eight hours on the skin. The projection has three phases. The first two hours, it pushes out really well, but after five, it sits closer to the skin. With the uniqueness of the scent, it could be perfect for going out, on dates, on formal occasions, etc…, but not office wear.

Final Words

These are all great colognes. When I first started collecting, discovering the brand took me a little while, but I’m glad I did. All of these fragrances offer quality aromas for an affordable price. Uomo Signature EDP, for example, is only $40 for a 100 mL bottle. You’ll struggle to find a better winter fragrance at the same price.

I recommend having a Ferragamo cologne in your collection, as none are bad buys.

After you try a Ferragamo cologne, I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
