#5 – Marciano for Men

The opening is bright and juicy with a prominent orange note. In the Background are nearly equal parts spice notes. Ginger is the most prominent and gives the opening a zingy touch. It grabs attention and keeps it into the mid, and dry down.

The mid comes in with a tidal wave of aromatics. There’s a boatload, but sage and rosemary are the most prevalent. These both sit on a leathery depth. These new additions take the scent in a more mature and sophisticated direction.

There are still spices and the freshness of orange, but the scent is transitioning to more herbal and green aromatics. Much of the spices have faded to the edges an hour into the wear. This allows Marciano for Men to move in a smoother and warmer direction.

The base simplifies. There is a hefty dose of amber with the warm and smooth faucets from before. In the background are aromatics and a hint of pepper. This is what you’ll smell for the rest of the wear.

This lasts five hours on the skin with intimate projection. In the first four hours, it pushes out a foot, then becomes a skin scent. This is spring, fall, and winter wear. I recommend taking it lighter on the sprays in the warmer temperature. As for occasions, it is all.

#4 – Seductive Homme Blue

There’s no denying the opening is slightly synthetic. In the beginning, there is a fresh, slight powderiness and spicy combination at the forefront. The specific notes need to be more prevalent for me to pick out, but I assume it’s a trio of citruses, cardamom, and geranium.

In the background is an aquatic and woody backbone that becomes more prevalent as the wear continues. After 10 – 15 minutes, cardamom spice and hints of citruses come through with a distinct aroma.

The mid stays similar. The overarching emphasis is fresh and aquatic with powdery spiciness. The unique addition to the heart is caviar. It never comes across as “fishy” but solely amplifies the aquatic nature of the fragrance.

The dry down adds a dry and smooth cashmere wood with a mossy and spicy element in the background. This is what you’ll get for the rest of the wear.

This lasts four hours on the skin with intimate projection. The first two hours, it pushes out two feet. After this period, it becomes a skin scent. This is spring, summer, and fall wear. It doesn’t have the depth for cooler temperatures. As for occasions, it is best suited for casual wear.

#3 – 1981 Indigo for Men

The opening starts with a prominent milky and lactonic coconut note. This is the main focus of the fragrance and will be for the rest of the wear. In nearly equal parts is a sweet and fruity fig. The best part is that this sweetness always stays wearable, never becoming overwhelming.

In the background is a very green and herbal tone. Based on the scent tree, it is most likely, lavender and sage, but I can’t smell them specifically.

The mid brings more coconut, but it is very natural and unprocessed. Think of the smell of dried coconut flakes at the grocery store. The fig is slightly sweeter but still never overwhelming. I get an interesting smell of tartness and milkiness.

The dry down retains coconut and fig notes in the background with an intense warm cedar note that jumps to the forefront. This trio of notes is what you’ll smell for the rest of the wear.

This lasts four to five hours on the skin with intimate projection. It pushes out a foot at its peak for the first three hours, then becomes a skin scent. This is spring and summer wear. Though it is sweet, the coconut gears it for this time of year. As for occasions, it is best for casual situations and dates.

#2 – Seductive Homme

The opening starts with powdery florals, mainly from violet leaf combined with fresh and citric mandarin orange. A refreshing, spicy kick lingers in the background. Initially, the pink pepper note is more dominant than the cardamom.

There is a warm ambery depth to the opening. Yet, it is less prominent than it will be later in the wear.

The first few minutes have a significantly prevalent powdery accord. After the initial spray, it quickly washes over the entire fragrance and dominates in the mid. The orange accent is gone, and together with the powdery accord, it’s very clean.

Cardamom comes back with a vengeance into the heart of the fragrance. It adds to the powdery florals from earlier. The sweet ambery and woody depth have gained dominance but still not to the prevalence as the base.

It takes a few hours to dry down. You’ll smell a prominent warm amber and woody combination for the rest of the wear. In the background lingers powdery nuances and a gentle cardamom spice accent, the least prominent of all accords above.

On the skin, it lasts 6 – 8 hours, with moderate to light projection. It pushes out two feet for the first few hours before receding closer to the skin. This is exclusively fall and winter wear for all occasions.

#1 – 1981 Los Angeles Man

Mint is prominent from the get-go. It will retain this prominence in the heart. There are black pepper and slightly fruity plum nuances in the background. They are spicy and fruity but, more importantly, help temper the strength of the mint.

Late opening and into the mid, a warm ambery sweetness is added. It gives the fragrance depth and will linger into the dry down. Once in the base, sandalwood rounds off the scent with smooth woodiness. There’s still an ambery depth and lingering spices. This is what you’ll get for the rest of the wear.

This lasts six to seven hours on the skin with moderate projection. It has an arm’s length projection for the first three to four hours. After this period, it recedes but maintains a one-foot ambiance for the rest of the wear.
