Review: Guerlain Heritage EDT – Everything You Need To Know

Heritage EDT.

A steady eddy for nearly any season or occasion.

Guerlain Heritage EDT was released in 1992. It is based on woods, aromatics, and spices. It lasts eight to ten hours on the skin with gentlemanly projection. In this review, I will describe its smell and performance and if it’s worth it.

What Does Guerlain Heritage EDT Smell Like?

Heritage EDT opens with breezy lavender, bergamot, and spice nuances. All sit atop a light patchouli background. The lavender and bergamot are the most prominent duo in the opening. They emphasize freshness but give Heritage an old-school aroma.

The spices nuances are subtle at first. I mainly catch black pepper, which is attention-grabbing and slightly aggressive. It doesn’t ever “assault” my nose as it’s tempered by lavender, but it certainly grabs attention.

The patchouli in the background will become more prominent as the wear continues. It will contribute most to the woody nature of the fragrance while having an earthy tinge.

As the scent progresses, the spices intensify, and the mid gains a slightly powdery nature. I can’t determine which note it’s coming from but one of the boatloads of florals. Patchouli becomes more prominent as this happens, bringing warm sandalwood and slight floral nuances.

Once in the dry down, patchouli virtually takes over. The warm sandalwood got more prevalent. But like all other lingering fresh nuances, it is just a supporting note to the dominant woody patchouli.

Performance

Heritage EDT lasts eight to ten hours on the skin with gentlemanly projection. In the first few hours, it pushes out an arm’s length before receding to a mild ambiance for the rest of the wear.

The sillage is as good. The more you move around, the better Heritage EDT smells and projects. This performance is with four sprays. This fantastic performance significantly increases its cost for value as it is so wearable.

Speaking of wearability, this is all-season wear except for the hottest days of summer. You’ll have to cut down on your sprays, even on warmer days. The woody aroma gets intense. As for occasions, it is all.

The mass appeal and likability are excellent. Why? One is the gentlemanly projection. The scent is present and allows others in your vicinity to experience your aroma but not become overwhelmed. Second is the simple and likable scent profile; there are no decisive notes when it’s based on woods, aromatics, and subtle spices.

Lastly, the uniqueness is above average. It’s most unique for its classic nature. It was released in the 90s and still has an old-school feel. As for the scent profile, the lavender and bergamot in the top and woody notes in the base are different but not one of a kind.

Besuited Aroma gives Guerlain Heritage EDT a 9.4 out of 10 rating.

Guerlain Heritage EDT CLones

The most similar fragrance is Heritage EDP. They are virtually the same fragrance with different oil concentrations. There was no change in the flanker.

Outside of the line, Roja Dove Danger Pour Homme is the most similar. It is also woody, aromatic, and lavender based but with differing notes and strengths of the supporting notes.

Final Words

This is an easy fragrance to recommend. Guerlain Heritage EDT is worth it. I love the gentlemanly projection the most, as it makes it wearable for nearly everything. This is a fragrance I know I can grab and go and not have to think twice.

The only downfall is it’s slightly old-school. If you’re younger or not accustomed to classic fragrances, this may not smell as good to you. However, I am a man in his 20s, and this is very wearable for me.

After you try Guerlain Heritage EDT, I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
