Review: Jazz Club Maison Margiela – Why You Need it

Jazz Club.

A unique compliment-getter.

Maison Margiela Jazz Club was released in 2013. It is based on tobacco, sweet rum, and vanilla. It lasts six to seven hours on the skin with intimate projection. In this review, I will describe its smell and performance and if it’s worth it.

What Does Maison Margiela Jazz Club Smell Like?

The scent is quite simple yet very unique. Upon the first spray is a citric floral tone with a nuance of pink pepper spice. Interestingly enough, the citric accord is coming from Neroli.

The tobacco and boozy rum combination become apparent. The rum note is dominant from the get-go. After a few minutes, the boozy rum gets sweeter and warmer. Wafts of light tobacco linger in the background. To my nose, the tobacco has barely any smoke and amplifies the sweetness of rum.

After a while, powdery vanilla comes in and washes over everything. For the rest of the wear, tobacco is still light but smells like an expensive cigar.

Maison Margiela Jazz Club notes:

  • Lemon

MID NOTES

  • Rum

  • Clary Sage

BASE NOTES

  • Tobacco
  • Vanilla
  • Styrax

Performance

Jazz Club lasts six to seven hours on the skin with intimate projection. Right off the bat, it pushes out a foot at max before receding and becoming a skin scent. This performance is with four sprays.

This is exclusively fall and winter wear. The warm weather makes the prominent sweetness too intense. In a four-season climate, you’ll get five months of wear.

As for the occasions, it is for special events like dates and formal situations. One reason is that the blend of notes is unique and alluring. While the second reason is because of the projection. This intimate projection is perfect on a date when you want to be discovered, not announced.

The uniqueness of the fragrance is like no other. This comes from the effort to mimic the smell of a Jazz Club. Tobacco, Vanilla, and Rum notes are nothing new. But how they are presented is different than most fragrances.

Lastly, mass appeal and likability are excellent. All of the reasons above it is unique and subtle.

Besuited Aroma gives Jazz Club an 8.7 out of 10 rating.

Final Words

Maison Margiela Jazz Club is worth it. With a fragrance of this unique blend and this quality of notes, you’d assume it’d cost an arm and a leg. However, Jazz Club is moderately priced, making it a great buy. I recommend this for everyone as it is a show-stopper on dates and other special events.

After you try Maison Margiela Jazz Club, I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
