Review: Lalique White in Black – Why You Need It?

White in Black.

An underrated winter fragrance for men.

Lalique White in Black was released in 2021. It is based on amber, spices, and Vanilla. It lasts six hours on the skin with intimate projection. In this review, I will describe its smell and performance and if it’s worth it.

What Does Lalique White in Black Smell Like?

The opening has a small dose of citrus in the background. It is less about the smell of citrus and more about the faint sparkle/zest that it provides.

The dominant top notes are warm and sweet vanilla with a spice duo and aromatic lavender. This vanilla is not only interesting but also comforting. Rather than being your typical vanilla, it has an ambery and slightly resinous nature. Yet, it has a somewhat powdery hue that always lingers.

After 5 minutes, it is a lot like Parfums de Marly Layton. At 15 minutes, it opens up and lets us look at its richer, nicer, and smoother side. Everything from the opening carries over onto a prevalent woody backbone.

The woodiness lends more depth than an actual smell. This simple scent is all about vanilla with spices and a woody backbone.

Performance

White in Black lasts six hours on the skin with light projection. It sits close to the skin after the first 1.5 to 2 hours. There are better performers than this, but it helps its versatility.

This can be worn for all occasions. As for seasons, it is spring, fall, and winter. Yes, it is best for winter, but the scent profile is diverse enough to never become too much in the warmer times of the year. You’ll get a solid eight to nine months of wear in a four-season climate.

Lastly, likability and mass appeal are great. Whenever there’s a prominent combination of amber and vanilla, it tends to be an alluring fragrance. There is no decisive note about this scent.

Besuited Aroma gives Lalique White in Black a 7.7 out of 10 rating.

Lalique White in Black Clones

White in Black doesn’t have clones but is a dupe of Parfums de Marly Layton. The biggest difference is the lack of the fruity apple note in this fragrance that leads the opening in Layton. Layton also has more prominent woods. Besides these two aspects, both fragrances are based on warm spices and vanilla with fresh accents.

Final Words

The final burning question is, is Lalique White in Black worth it? Yes. It’s an easy-to-wear, cool, and cold-weather fragrance for an affordable price. Whether you were searching for White in Black individually or because it’s a dupe of Layton, it’s still an excellent choice.

After you try Lalique White in Black, I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
