Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb Infrared Full Review – Do You Need It?

A flanker of one of the best winter fragrances.

Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb Infrared was released in 2021 and is based on warm spices and tobacco. It lasts eight hours on the skin with average projection. In this review, I will describe its smell and performance and if it’s worth it.

What Does Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb Infrared Smell Like?

Upon the first spray, it is sweet, and there is no other way around that. The emphasis on the red fruits at the top is the main contributor. Mixing with the fruits is a mix of spices – cinnamon, saffron, and pepper.

They are blended well, so you can’t pick out each specific spice, but the spiciness has a quality from each. Specifically, the cinnamon is most prominent and amplifies the sweet accord.

The sweetness remains warm as it develops. The fruity notes dissipate and leave behind their sweetness for the rest of the wear. The trio of spices at this point is the focal point. They mingle with the sweetness and give you the “spicebomb.” 

The scent simplifies even further in the dry-down. The spices are still prominent and rest on top of the base notes. For the rest of the wear, it is only a bit of tobacco with slight amber woodiness.

• Tobacco

Performance

The performance is good but not as good as the other flanker from the line “extreme.” Infrared lasts eight hours on the skin with average projection. In the first hour, it’s explosive off the skin, pushing out multiple feet. But after this period, it quickly recedes.

This is one benefit it has over the Spicebomb line, as it is a more polite winter projection that cuts through the cold air but doesn’t consume those around you.

Like the entire Spicebomb line, it is exclusively fall and winter wear. Infrared needs cooler temperatures to temper its strong aroma. And the intense spices in the fragrance best match the cooler times of the year. When you’ll want a “warm” scent.

So, when should you wear infrared? It works for all occasions. Again, the milder projection can help because it allows you to wear Infrared in close-quarter settings without overwhelming others. And formal occasions, this has an interesting aroma but nothing ultra-unique that those around you haven’t smelt before.

Lastly, compliments and mass appeal. This is above average in both categories. As long as you don’t overapply, it’s hard for the masses not to enjoy the simple aroma of spices and tobacco. Whereas compliments its quality and masculine and grabs attention. It wouldn’t garner them like a blue fragrance. But it’ll certainly do better than most.

Final Words

On the Viktor & Rolf official website, a 3.0oz bottle is $128. So, it’s as expensive as almost all other spicebomb’s and designer fragrances. You’re probably thinking, is it worth it? And is this the best one to buy from the line?

The scent is worth the money. It has no major red flags, just minor things that work out in its favor. I don’t enjoy how the projection goes from explosive to an ambiance after an hour. It’s too much of a drastic change.

It’s not the best from the line. If you want the best cost for value. I recommend the extreme version. It is a very similar fragrance but with better performance. If you enjoy the Spicebomb DNA but don’t like how “loud” they are, Infrared is a great choice to solve this problem.

This circumstance is the only time I see Infrared as a must-have. Otherwise, the other flankers are better.
