What Does Parfums de Marly Greenley Smell Like?

The opening starts with a hefty dose of ultra-fresh and juicy citruses. I mainly get the tart sourness of bergamot. While tangy mandarin orange and petitgrain notes linger in the background. The non-sweet fruity apple note is present, blending everything together.

The bergamot is interesting as it develops. It seems as though it’s spicy, but it’s actually the sourness that is replicating the sensation. It smells exactly like the lime extra sour bubble gum. 

The mid develops with a heavy dose of powdery accords. The tart bergamot recedes to the background, making room for subtle woody accents. On the skin, it has a cooling feel and scent. It will be great for a hot summer day.

The wood accords slowly get stronger, pairing equally with the powdery notes. In the background, the citruses and fruity nuances are slowly fading away. Their faint last accords add a degree of sharpness to the classy and fresh base notes. 

The base is fully developed after three hours. The citrus and fruity accords are entirely gone. It is all about subtle wood and smooth cashmeran. If you can imagine, it smells like a soft layer of suede on the skin. 

Musky nuances linger in the background, adding a masculine and intriguing touch. The rest of the wear is this trio of notes. 

Performance

The longevity is 8 hours, with good projection. The first 1 – 2 hours, it pushes out multiple feet. Once the tart bergamot starts to fade, so does the projection. It never becomes a skin scent but is certainly very light.

Greenley is exclusively warm weather wear. Primarily spring and summer. If the temperature is right, the early fall works too. In total, you’d be able to get 6 months of wear. The interesting thing about Greenley is its wearability. It can be worn for all occasions, but best fits casual and office day wear.

This unique perfume could serve as a signature scent in the warmer months. Many summer fragrances have a bright accent in the beginning. However, the tartness and authenticity of Greenley are unmatched. As the scent dries, it becomes more and more “generic.”

The likability factor is certainly here. Some may say that the opening is too intense. Yet, I doubt anyone will be turned off by your scent, as it’s office-wear-rated.

Is Parfums de Marly Greenley Worth It?

It has a unique and interesting opening. The longevity is enough for an entire day at the office, and the projection is intense and then dies down. It is easily wearable. Lastly, it is the best freshie from Parfums de Marly and one of the best freshies of all fragrances.

Conversely, it is limited to half the year and doesn’t project well after the first 1 – 2 hours.

Considering what was mentioned above. This is worth it but not a must-have. Currently, a 125mL bottle can be purchased for $260.

The current sample I am reviewing was bought from Parfums de Marly’s website. It is one of seven in their men’s discovery set. These are seven 1.5mL bottles of their most popular colognes.

The box is light green with the Parfums de Marly logo on the front. The batch will be on the bottom of both the box and bottle.

History

Parfums de Marly’s brand was founded in 1743 in France. You can say they have experience, to say the least. From Parfums de Marly, “Each fragrance has its own olfactory signature, developed from a palette of noble ingredients. The splendor of the 18th century through a prism of modern vision.”

Greenley was released in 2020. It has grown to mass popularity for all the reasons mentioned above. It is one of a kind for the brand and, currently, does not have any flankers.
