Long Lasting Fragrances for Men – Discover Your Eternal Scent Now

Poor longevity is the curse of many colognes. You buy a new cologne; you are pumped about it; it smells great on your skin, then boom! It’s lunchtime, and you can’t even smell yourself anymore.

You, my friend, are not alone. Now my guess is that you’re a little frustrated and are in search of a new cologne that lasts for an eternity. To save you time and money, I have compiled a list of the 13 best long-lasting fragrances for men.

This review will describe how they smell and perform and if they’re the right choice for you.

With that said, let’s find you a cologne that will last an eternity.

#13 – Bentley for Men Intense

Meet the poster child of high-quality car manufacturer scents. At first, I thought, “A fragrance from a car manufacturer; that doesn’t make sense.” After smelling it, they’ve done well.

From top to bottom, this is a boozy scent. The opening is a blast of rum that mixes with spices. It is a very pleasing spiced rum-type accord. A heavy sweetness continues into the base and fuses with leather. Sweetness and spiced rum are not the only notes but make up the entire scent. If the dry-down looked like a person, it would be the man at the bar with a leather jacket.

Bentley for Men Intense is always well-blended and masculine. Best suited for middle-aged men and older. Now let’s talk about the best part of the cologne. It’s a beast-mode performer. Going out at night and in cold weather are the only times to wear this cologne.

#12 – Paco Rabanne 1 Million

The infamous gold bar cologne. I will tell you right now that lots of people love to trash 1 Million. Its success has led to its despise, but I’m here to tell you that it’s still fantastic.

1 million is all about the opening. The top notes are bright, sweet, and spicy all at the same time. The brightness comes from a fusion of bright grapefruit and blood orange. Exclusively, this combination is pungent. Yet, when combined with an array of spices and hints of mint, there is a vibrance.

The top notes lead into a quiet base. Most of the smell rests on a base of leather and amber. They are light but provide great support for the exotic opening. From the top, grapefruit has faded, but all other notes have lingered into a weakened form.

Only in colder temperatures will you be able to bless people with your 1 Million aroma. Like many of the longest-lasting fragrances for men, the performance is too intense to wear in the high heat.

#11 – Tom Ford Black Orchid Parfum

This is one fragrance I have really wanted to write about. It is a flanker of the original EDP version. It was released in 2020 and is now renowned as one of the best unisex fragrances.

Deep and rich are recurring themes throughout the scent. Upon the first spray, you’re hit with a blast of florals – ylang-ylang and black orchids. They have a floral smell to them but are also significantly sweet. Sometimes it even comes across as fruity. Soon after, enters the bulk of the scent.

The duo of truffle and black plum is significantly earthy. Yet, never do they come across as dirty. This aspect is retained for the rest of the wear. After some time, sweet rum washes over the earthy duo, toning down the decisive property. The rum is short-lived but leads into the base. Woody patchouli is the final addition and works hand in hand with the earthy duo.

Like most Tom Ford fragrances, Black Orchid Parfum is decisive. You either wear Black Orchid Parfum, or it wears you.

Performance-wise, the longevity will last the whole day and project until lunch. It won’t fill a room, but it will get the job done. How you wear your colognes is up to you, but I recommend saving this for a formal occasion in the winter. Not only is it strong, but it is also unique and expensive.

#10 – Interlude Man by Amouage

Amouage Interlude Man EDP is a fragrance that I even contemplated including. It is a very mature and acquired taste. If you like it, it smells out of this world, but if you hate it, you’ll think it’s the worst invention ever.

If you exclusively only like blue fragrances, a.k.a mass-appealing and compliment-getting colognes, then this is the polar opposite of what you usually enjoy.

Interlude Man wastes no time; it has a very powerful and decisive opening that lasts for a while, like 3-4 hours. The opening is the part where many instantly say no and start scrubbing their skin.

Heavy incense with light oregano and pepper nuances lead the opening. It has a spicy tinge, but the profound amounts of incense drown out everything else.

After some time, incense dies down and is replaced with woody accords while the spices linger. Adding to the woody spices are myrrh/opoponax. If you are unfamiliar, they are resins with aromatic medicinal-like undertones.

The dry-down is why Interlude Man is so highly rated. It is simple yet dark and smoky. An ambery leather with lingering smoke dominates the base. It took a while to develop, but it’s a true art form for mature tastes.

Interlude Man is crazy unique and robust; it shines for those few special occasions each year. Yet, it is exclusively a nighttime and cold weather wear. Interlude Man is not a blind-buy or must-have fragrance. Still, it is worth having a great special occasion cologne if you have the extra money.

#9 – Kilian Gold Knight

Gold Knight is the fragrance of a classy gentleman. It is interesting, seductive, and sexual.

Bergamot and Anise lead the opening, resulting in a smooth, blended freshness. Soon after, you are enveloped in a heavy dose of honey. The smell is an accurate representation, similar to sticking your head in a honey jar.

Patchouli and anise work with the honey to form the trio for the rest of the wear. As the honey develops, it is heavy and rich but never gets too powdery.

Honey sweetness lingers and mixes into the base with an additional dense woody musk. Hints of earth and vanilla in the background add sensuality. The combination of these two creates a classy, exciting aroma.

Gold Knight is perfect for casual get-togethers with friends or even on a third date. It works best if those events happen in the colder temperatures and nighttime.

#8 – Dior Sauvage Elixir

Dior Sauvage Elixir’s scent profile takes the Sauvage line in a different direction.

It is warm and spicy. Cinnamon is the most prominent. The spices are intense in the opening but remain in the background for the rest of the wear. As Elixir develops, a warm and woody base fuses with lavender. The base is warm, amplifying the warmth from the opening. This is the point when Elixir goes old-school. Rather than being clean and soapy, lavender is rich and classic. Elixir creates a sexier vibe than a fresh one.

When it comes to performance, Elixir is a beast! It will project more than any other Sauvage. Dior Sauvage Elixir will last 12+ hours, no matter the season. Beware that you can overspray this version. Any more than 2-3 sprays and you may make people nauseous.

Dior Sauvage Elixir gives off 80’s vibes. It is an excellent addition to the Sauvage line. Providing a classic throwback scent to a string of youthful formulations.

#7 – Armani Code Absolu

Released in 2019, Armani took no shortcuts when creating Armani Code Absolu. It is the perfect combination of sexy and elegance. In my opinion the best Armani code.

So, what does Armani code absolu smell like?

The opening is creamy but not fresh or juicy. The most prominent notes are vanilla, nutmeg, and wood accords. The heart is earthy and bittersweet vanilla. As a whole, this scent is based heavily on vanilla accords with woody undertones.

The performance of Armani Code Absolu is outstanding. It lasts over 12 hours on my skin and nearly fills a room with its projection. Its elegant and classy aroma suits it best for formal and special events.

Not only does Armani Code Absolu have great longevity, but it is also one of the sexiest colognes for men. There are no Armani code absolu dupes, but Armani code Profumo has a similar aroma.

#6 – Lalique Encre Noire A L’Extreme

Mr. Dark and mysterious over here. Lalique released Encre Noire A L’Extreme in 2015. They stated it was the definition of masculine sensuality.

Were they right? Well, it is a very dark and masculine fragrance that screams power.

Leading the opening is a heavy hit of cypress blended with aromatic vetiver. The aromatics are a counterbalance. Yet, the scent always retains its forest-like aroma. Cypress and vetiver linger from the top and fuse with incense in the mid. It creates a rainy forest vibe and expresses a masculine aroma. Once the dry-down starts, it adds woody patchouli and has a wet earth nature.

Fully developed, the drydown has the smell of the ground and “woods” in the best way possible.

This ultra-masculine creation is best for casual events in colder weather. It is decent in the spring but too strong in the high heat.

#5 – Dior Eau Sauvage Parfum

Dior Eau Savage 2017 is the best ultra-masculine fragrance on the market. Much of the fragrance revolves around elegant freshness and warmth. It is a reformulation of the 2012 original, which had a harsher opening. Perfumer Francois Demachy wanted a more rounded version.

Fresh citrus leads to a “sunny” opening. It is intense but not loud. Soft notes of lavender weaken the citrus, but the freshness is retained. Warm and confident notes of woody aromatics dominate the base. It is a very masculine yet fresh dry down.

Uniqueness is Dior Eau Sauvage Parfum’s gift. It is the type of cologne you’ll want to save for a special occasion. It is too powerful in the high heat, but it works well all other times of the year.

#4 – Emporio Armani Stronger With You Intensely

Stronger with You Intensely represents the excitement of new and young love. Released in 2019, Stronger with You is one of the sexiest colognes for men and one of the best winter fragrances.

Stronger with You Intensely opens with a heavy emphasis on the toffee note. It is extremely sweet and powdery. Eventually, the sweetness is so dense and rich that it is syrup-like. For the rest of the wear, the sweetness only becomes more intense. There are nuances of cinnamon spice in the background. They aren’t prevalent but add a warm spicy quality.

Into the base, a vanilla bomb adds equal parts to the sweetness. It fits the theme but achieves it differently. Stronger with you Intensely is warm, sweet, and intoxicating for the entire wear.

This is a prime example of a beast-mode fragrance. It lasts 12+ hours and fills a room with its projection. It is too overwhelming in high-heat situations. However, its versatility could be better. Its strength is its own downfall. I recommend reserving this for casual situations.

#3 – Jean – Paul Gaultier Le Male Le Parfum

If she smells a sexy fragrance like this on you, she’ll have you as naked as the bottle. Jean-Paul Gaultier Le Male Le Parfum was released in 2020 and still raises men’s sex appeal on every wear.

The opening is a profound sweetness and warmth from cardamom.

I won’t lie; the opening slaps you in the face. Into the base is an amplified warm vanilla projecting off a woody amber. Once the fragrance develops past the opening. You are delivered Jean-Paul Gaultier’s DNA olfactory pleasure.

The longevity of Le Male Le Parfum is beast-mode; if you didn’t take a shower, you could smell it for days. The rest of the performance does lack, but with a seductive aroma, it is hard to resist. Jean Paul – Gaultier is best worn when going out. Too sexy and sweet for the office and formal occasions.

#2 – Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb Extreme

So, what does Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb Extreme smell like?

The opening is a spicy and vanilla scent bomb – no pun intended. The spice is heavy for the rest of the wear. As the scent develops, vanilla darkens. It gets sweeter and powdery. Tobacco adds to vanilla later in the wear and smoothes over the fresh spice. At this point, it is a warm tobacco and vanilla scent.

Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb Extreme has outstanding performance. However, because of its intensity, you should avoid wearing it in warm temperatures.

There is no Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb Extreme clone. Yet, you’ll find similarities with Bvlgari Man in Black.

#1 – Dior Homme Intense

Meet your second skin. This is an odd description, but this is how Dior describes the best Dior Homme.

*Note this review is about Dior Homme Intense 2020, which comes in a new bottle. Dior Homme Intense 2011 has been discontinued.

So, what does Dior Homme Intense smell like?

The opening leads with strong notes of Virginia cedar. Iris is the most prominent note and makes up most of the scent. Ambrette and iris accompany Virginia cedar to create a floral and earthy smell. Iris is powdery as the scent develops and adds to fresh synthetic woody notes. A simple scent but always fresh, woody, and well-blended.

So how good is Dior Homme Intense performance?

It has enormous longevity and projection. Lasting more than 12 hours and filling a room with its projection. It is not suitable for summertime or daytime wear but can be worn for all occasions.

I recommend buying from well-known discounters: fragrancex.com, fragrancenet.com, and Amazon. The brand’s official website, Sephora and Ulta, are the second-best alternatives. However, these tend to be the most expensive options.
