History
Visualites is a brand of reading Glasses known for its commitment to providing stylish and affordable eyewear solutions. Founded in 2001 by the REM Optical company in Sun Valley, California. REM Optical is a national leader designing and producing prescription eyewear and sunglasses, catering to individuals seeking fashionable glasses that blend functionality with aesthetics. Announced by the industry leading publication Vision Monday, REM Optical was purchased by the Italian eyewear maker DeRigo in 2016. Already an international force in designer prescription frames the purchase of REM Optical made DeRigo REM the 4th largest optical manufacturer in the world. Shortly after the purchase of REM Optical, DeRigo REM chose to its brand of lightweight rimless reading glasses Visualites to focus their efforts completely on designer prescription frames.
In 2017 Lumen Eyewear owned by Jerry Willis in Carbondale, Colorado purchased Visualites reading glasses and moved the brand to Colorado. While originally the brand had been focused on selling via wholesale channels through optical shops across the United States, Mr. Willis felt the future of the company lie in the direct-to-consumer channels online, see more in Retail Model below. As of 2024 Visualites reading glasses is thriving and continuing to grow with a new line of full frame reading glasses and progressive reading glasses launching in 2024.
Retail Model
Visualites primarily operates on a direct-to-consumer retail model, allowing customers to purchase their products through various channels, including the official website, select online retail partners, the Walmart online marketplace and the Amazon online marketplace. Visualites continues to support its wholesale relationships with optical shops across the United States and with a few key relationships in Central and South America. This approach ensures accessibility and convenience for consumers seeking high-quality reading glasses.

Stylish Eyewear Solutions
Visualites has specialized in lightweight rimless reading glasses that cater to different styles and preferences since its inception. Their product line includes various options, including rectangle, round, oval, pillow and more, providing customers with a wide array of choices to suit their individual needs. They primarily make their glasses with a screw mount method attaching the temple arms and nose piece directly to the lenses with screws but they also incorporate two models with a compression mount which is stronger and has a cleaner look. Their lightweight reading glasses with clear lenses made news on their launch again in the eyewear publication Vision Monday.
Visualites also makes full frame and rimless sun reading glasses with a magnification window in the lower part of the lens that allows the wearer to use them as regular sunglasses and then look down to be able to read clearly.
The Future
Visualites is poised to give the brand a fresh look for 2024 with the launch of five new products. Three of these will be full framed reading glasses that are still focused on lightweight, this is achieved by producing the glasses with the highest quality lightweight materials and lenses. Two of the product will be a new style known as “grooved rimless” where an epoxy fill is wrapped around the rimless design, this keeps the glasses light while adding a completely fresh look. The new products will all come in two to three colors to give customers a variety of choices. These new products will also come in three different lens types, traditional reading glasses lens, the blue light filtering computer reading glasses lens, and new to Visualites a progressive lens that allows the wearer to see without magnification in the upper area of the glasses and with magnification when they look down to read.

Visualites was an early producer of blue light filtering computer reading glasses, developed to protect the eyes or their customers who need reading magnification while on the computer.
