A BRIEF HISTORY OF ACCESSORIES-PIERCINGS

Philosophers have been speculating on the rules of human relationships for thousands of years and out of these speculations there has evolved only one important precept. It is as old as history itself.

Zoroaster taught it to his followers in Persia 2500 years ago.Confucious preached it in China 24 centuries ago.Lao-tse the founder of Taoism taught it to his disciples in the valley of the Han.Budha preached it on the banks of the Holy Ganges 500 years before Christ.Jesus summed it up in one thought probably the most important rule in the world,”do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

Happy Jamuhuri day.

Do you believe in miracles?

I do.But not in the spontaneous and magical way that They often happen in movies. I believe in miracles happening in a planned and calculated manner. We decide when and how they happen.

Take it this way,you see a crippled person on your way to work on a crazy Monday morning.Everyone is in a rush to get somewhere but you spot him from a distance and after struggling with your thoughts and logic you decide to risk through the rushing cars and help him across the road to safer grounds. To the cripple that little gesture is a miracle he prayed for when he woke up in the morning that he would find someone to help him get to the other side that morning.

We can all be a miracle to someone by simply helping them out when we see that they direly need it.Strive to be a miracle to someone and the world will be such a beautiful place when we have a million little miracles going around.

Do you have any body piercings?if yes did you know that the placement of Piercings has significant meanings not just for aesthetic purposes.

The onset of religion led to demonization of indegineous cultures. It is not wholly a bad thing but this has led to the current generation having little to no knowledge of their cultures.

In Swahili, we have a saying that mwacha mila ni mtumwa which means, anyone who deserts his culture has become a slave.

Our culture gives us a sense of belonging,it gives us values and something to believe and hold on to.Anyone who has no knowledge of his culture cannot appreciate it.

Currently, people get piercings for various reasons such as aesthetic appeal, self-expression and sexual pleasure.in ancient African civilizations, piercings had many cultural meanings apart from being a form of body modification. On this blog post I will explore two of the most popular forms of piercings and their significance to various cultures.

Nose piercings

The hindu people are the most known community whose women adorn themselves in nose piercings. They believe that there exists an energy point on the left side of a woman’s nostril that connects to the womb hence, piercing the nose on this particular node will lessen the pain during menstruation and after childbirth. This has ties to Ayurveda. Ayurvedic medicine is a holistic system that dates back thousands of years, connecting the mind and body.

Similarly,in Chinese medicine,it is believed that there exist key points in the body which act as pressure points hence when needles are placed on these key points, pain is alleviated. This practice is known as accupuncture.

Ear piercings

Ear piercings are the most popular types of piercings.Indeginous African communities adorned themselves in earrings for aesthetic purposes and as a symbol of affluence.

Dr paul Nogier in his research identifies that by piercing certain points in the ear we stimulate surrounding nerve areas.
