A-Line Leopard Skirt| Dressystar

If there is one hill that I will die on, it’s that Leopard print is a neutral. Go ahead and try to argue with me, I do not care! I am game to wear an animal print any time, especially if it is leopard. Dressystar, one of the lovely brands I have had the pleasure of working with, recently released a whole new line of animal print skirts! And it’s no shock that I decided to put in an order on the classic-color leopard number.

While I have ordered dresses from them in the past, trying a skirt was a first for me. Quality from some of these smaller companies can be unreliable, but I figured that you really can’t lose with something that’s only $20! I put in my order and waited patiently for my package to arrive. And it did, two days later! So prime shipping on Amazon is a huge plus. Now onto the details you’re all waiting for…

Basic Style

The basic style of this is an accordion skirt! Which means it has the waistband, and then shallow pleats all around the circumference of skirt. I will be very candid and say that I usually really dislike how these skirts fit on me. Something about the way they sit on my hips looks super weird and unflattering, in my opinion. When I opened the package and realized it was an accordion skirt, I was disappointed.

Trying it on though, I was pleasantly surprised. Not only did it fit me well, but it didn’t give me a weird puff on my hips. What a wonderful piece of clothing! It was very comfortable, too. Soft polyester and an ample waistband made it very pleasant to wear.

As I mentioned earlier, I chose the classic leopard option, but there are four other colorways. There is also a black and white leopard, and three different types of snakeskin. I had a hard time choosing because they were all really cute, but ultimately I decided I was a purist and got the classic.

One other aspect I really liked was that the skirt is lined with black fabric! The patterned fabric on the top is only slightly sheer but it is always very convenient to make sure that nobody will be able to see what you have going on underneath the skirt, without having to wear a slip. The lining reached to my knee, so I know that Dressystar didn’t skimp in order to cut costs.

Sizing & Fit

I will also be frank and say that the sizing isn’t very inclusive, only going from XS to XL. The skirt is stretchy, though, so it’s possible that you could size down and still make it work. I wish that the sizing was more inclusive because I know so many ladies, both petite and curvy that won’t be able to get this to fit them well.

Props to Dressystar on the length though! Usually I tend to steer clear of inexpensive skirts because they are always too short on me at my height of 5’8. This one was the absolute perfect length on me, hitting right below my knees. If you are shorter, you can keep it tea length or get it hemmed to suit you better.

Overall, I adored how well this skirt fit on me. It managed to accommodate my full hips without making them look odd or squeezed. And, as I said, the lining reached to my knees and kept all the goods covered up. Sometimes linings are shoddy and are either too short, or too tight and ride up. I didn’t experience either of those issues with this skirt.

One of my big pet peeves with any article of clothing is when you have to continually tug and pull to get it to fit the way that you want it to. Since this leopard skirt didn’t require any pulling and tugging, it receives an A+ in my book.

Quality

Okay my lovely friends. I am not going to lie to you and tell you that this is the best skirt I have ever tried in my life. It’s not! There are concerns, and you can tell by the way that the fabric feels that it isn’t the highest quality out there. I am not thrilled with the size range. But, for $20, this leopard beauty is a steal! There are other skirts for this price that I have tried, and they aren’t as nearly s nice as this one.

Mainly, they are too short, and do not fit so well on someone who is a bit more curvy instead of straight. But this fits well and has a lovely leopard pattern on it, so I will say that it is Aphrodite approved! Dressystar did well on this piece and you can go get it yourself for $19.99 USD right here.

A huge thank you goes to one of my favorite photographers EVER, John from A. Eye photography. We had so much fun, and he nails pinup pictures every time. If you need some pinup photos, done, hit him up. You will not be disappointed.

Have you ever ordered something from Dressystar? Because I was pleasantly surprised with how this leopard skirt turned out, and I want to know what else is good. Or if there are any misses to avoid.
