Can’t Be Common Custom Acrylic Jewelry Review

Just like everyone else, I have contrasting sides to my personality as well as my style. I am constantly caught between the duality between traditional and classic, and quirky and fun. Do I want to look authentically 1940’s or a manic pinup dream girl? The world may never know. One company that manages to combine both these styles into one is Can’t Be Common.

You all know how obsessed I am with vintage jewelry and accessories in general. I do have to wear a certain dress code at work, so often I have to use accessories to get in all the color and sparkles I wish I was wearing. If you are looking for color or sparkles to jazz up your own outfit, look no further!

And stay tuned for a discount code as well.

My First Impressions

Let’s start with the basics. Can’t Be Common is a relatively new, woman owned business located in Australia. (Isn’t that all amazing pinup companies?) They specialize kitschy, cute, laser cut jewelry that ships worldwide. Thankfully for us Americans!

I originally fell in love with their pieces over Instagram. They sport a rainbow feed with lots of aesthetic pictures and adorable Earrings. Obviously I was hooked! When they reached out to me to send me a few items, I was over the moon. Frankly, I still am. Just be aware that even though these pieces were gifted, all of the opinions expressed are 100% honest and my own.

So let’s get started! I will be showcasing each of the items I received individually, and then I’ll go through my final thoughts on everything.

The Chantilly Heart Earrings

First up are these adorable yellow chantilly heart earrings! *Cue the song “Chantilly Lace”* Put you hair in a ponytail and pair it with these earrings and you will be the full embodiment of that song! They’re sweet, fun, and a little atypical, which is the hallmark of Can’t Be Common.

I really like the lacy looking detailing of these dangly hearts! These would pair well with an updo, or peeking out of your hair while it’s down. And as with all of the accessories featured here, they aren’t exclusive to one era. If you’re not one for yellow, don’t worry, you can get them in lavender purple, too.

The Electric Blue Glitter Earrings

These earrings are nothing if not electric! They’re packed several different shades of confetti glitter ranging from silver to royal blue. All of the glitter is in different geometric shapes that creates a really interesting texture. Despite that though, they are still super smooth to the touch.

Something neat about these is that they could work for a variety of different decades. They could be a quirky take on the 1940’s of 1950’s, or a mod 1960’s, or even the 1980’s. Jazzercise, anyone?

Also peep that gorgeous hair flower from Social Liztortion! I have a full review of her creations on my blog, which you can read here.

The Pink Flamingo Heart Earrings

One of the hallmarks of 1950’s kitsch is the neon pink flamingo! They used to be popular in yards, but you can wear them now on your ears. Frame them in hearts and you’ve got an adorable pair of earrings.

The shape of the flamingo is super classic, but the heart adds a fun juxtaposition that keeps these fun and fresh. They’re definitely unique, but they will match a variety of pinup looks.

“I Made You A Mix Tape” Brooch

How amazing is this little guy?! I know that I am just a hardcore Marvel fan, but this is giving me some hardcore Peter Quill vibes. For some of you, this will be a fun touch of nostalgia to add to an outfit, but for me, it’s just another vintage device I never got to use.

Get this one here for $26.32!

It’s also so fashionable and adds a quirky element to an outfit. I don’t have one, but I feel like this would really be cute on a jean jacket! You’ll see it in my wardrobe on all manner of 1940’s or 1950’s tops and dresses. Because who doesn’t like an anachronism? But this would be equally pretty with a modern outfit.

Be sure to snag it soon though because it is limited edition!

Personalized Name Stud Earrings

Out of all the items, I have saved the best for last. These are without a doubt one of the best things I have ever received! The name studs are able to be personalized to any name you want, either the same name on each earring, or a different name on each earring like I got.

Get these for $30.08 here!

Are they not the cutest thing ever?! Not only can you customize the name, but the colors as well. There is a wide array to choose from, so you can really get your own personal look.

I would wear my custom earrings pretty much anywhere, but pinup pageants in particular would be a good place. And, if you are looking for a fun unique gift for the pinup woman in your life, these would be fantastic. Choose out her favorite colors and her pinup name and you’ve got a fabulous, thoughtful gift.

My Final Thoughts

This. Shop. Rocks. I know it might be fairly obvious given the name, but nothing that they sell is common. With a lot of smaller jewelry businesses, I have found that they use the same molds and designs. While they do put their own spin on it, usually you can find something similar somewhere else.

With Can’t Be Common, this is not the case! All of the designs are totally unique. You would be hard pressed to find anything like their jewelry, let alone the custom name earrings. You know that you’re getting something 100% originally designed and created with love.

Since they are made of acrylic, they are also super lightweight. (A must for the earrings I wear. Even though they are large, they feel like nothing on my ears! So you can still get that bold look without feeling that annoying tugging on your ears. And that is something I’m always looking for, but is difficult to find!

Not to mention these designs are right up my alley. I like the quirky feel, and the colorful aspect. These beautiful creations are 100% Aphrodite approved! Can’t Be Common cannot be beat.

So please, do yourself a favor and go check this wonderful shop! The owners at Can’t Be Common were so kind and generous to offer all of my blog readers a 20% discount off of any order you make. Just enter in the code APHRODITE20 at the checkout, and save yourself some money!
