DIY Craft Ideas of Old Denim

One of the most difficult things for me to throw away (or donate) is Denim.  Denim is such a dense and durable fabric that I can’t just chuck it for so many things.  I think when I was in high school, all this denim collection started. I gathered all the jeans that I could put on my feet, so I could put a nice heavy denim quilt together.  The thing I did! (What happened to that quilt?!?! Dang.) But after the quilt was complete…. the set of denim never stopped. Ahhhh, that’s where everything started. Thank you for speaking to me through my therapy session— I think I’ve found out why I’m a denim hoarder! Nonetheless, I searched online and started finding so many great ideas to use denim. And not just outdated designs of lame denim …… these ideas are SUPER COOL!!!! And that’s HIP! And look like having so much fun!

Simple DIY Fix for Loose Jeans

Okay, so everybody has the issue where your jeans ‘ back is opening up, right? I say you can’t keep that little peek-a-boo spot from revealing, no matter what you do. Okay, there’s a great DIY remedy for those loose jeans at I Am Momma Hear Me Roar (and we just love that name, btw). If you’re always worried about leaving your pants to the imagination a little too little and gaping open in the back, you just need to take a little elastic and add it in. This is a perfect workaround that only takes a few minutes and you can stop worrying about having your shirt tucked in to protect your modesty.

Make a Cute jean purse.

It’s such a cool and simple idea and another no-sew one!  It’s the right time to discover it as well. I wanted one of those nice little bags to take around with me. Essentially, you just cut the little coin pocket out of a pair of jeans, making sure you include the waistband on top of it. You poke through it a few holes, run the cord and tie the knots in front of it.  Now the waistband is a flap that you can pull down over the middle, so it looks nice and smooth. Within five or ten minutes, you can actually do this. I love the beautiful front flower decoration. It’s making a great look “done.”

Look at this sweet Morse code denim bracelet.

Here’s another fun little blog venture.  It’s a plain, quick bracelet with a message written on it in Morse code that you can make out of old jeans.  You will find another fun design for a Blue Jeans Sea Wrap Bracelet if you scroll down to the bottom of the tutorial.  There are many interesting, creative ideas in this gal!

Convert your old jeans into a trendy lace skirt.

This is one of the most impressive projects I’ve seen with an old pair of jeans up-cycling.  The skirt looks fantastic both because of the model as well as because the person making it did such an excellent job on it. The instructions are in Cyrillic, but they’re very easy to follow with just the images because it’s a very simple project.
