Know More About The Chocolate Colored Diamonds

In spite of the popular belief, natural colorless diamonds are not the most common variety of diamonds. Brown Colored stones consist of the majority of natural diamonds. Brown diamonds or popularly termed as “Chocolate Diamonds” because of the trademarking, are mined together with white diamonds. The stones can be found in different colorways. Some are one pure color or with one or two pure colors, some even three secondary shades. The possible shades include, Yellowish, Yellow, Pinkish, Pink, Orangey, Orange, Greenish, Greenish yellow, Purple and Reddish. They can also be of several color intensities, including light, fancy light, fancy, fancy deep, and fancy dark.

These one-of-a-kind round cut diamonds has gain interests and popularity because of the designers who have used them into jewelries that some of the celebrities have been seen wearing. The different color combinations can be captivating, it is the reason why many assumed that Colored Diamonds is a way too much higher than their budget. Natural brown colored diamonds are rapidly getting known among the family of fancy colored diamond. These kind of diamonds have different color variations and combinations and have adopted different names to distinguish their shades and tone.

The Chocolate Colored Diamonds

Chocolate Diamonds are acquired in nature that have a light to dark brown color. Most of the diamonds range from yellowish to brownish in color. The reason why many people could not find it attractive and they are mostly put on sale unlike the colorless diamonds. Yellow colored stones usually undergo on a process called HPHT wherein it would result to fancy colored treated diamonds. But the most expensive brown diamonds and a higher quality grade have a darker color compared to a common grade yellowish diamond.

Fancy Colored Diamonds

Just like the natural fancy colored diamonds, the chocolate diamonds are brought into being by an absorption of light through the crystal lattice’s natural defects. Various places around the world are known for creating specific colors. The Argyle mine in Western Australia is famous for their pink diamond. But at the same time it is also the place where you can find some of the nicest chocolate diamonds.

The Term HPHT or what you called High Pressure, High Temperature Treatment was first used to treat a yellowish diamond into a fancy colored diamond. But nowadays it has been used to enhance diamonds. It is now used to turn some unfashionable brownish diamonds into a more extravagant colorless diamond quality. Some have been claiming that HPHT is not considered a treatment.  They say that it was only a technique for the finishing process. The process to detect an HPHT treated diamond and the belief that it was only technique has been a controversial topic.

Many people still could not even tell if the brown diamond were a gem or a diamond. Of all the available technology today, jewelers can make precision cuts that make brown diamonds desired and wanted even more than natural colorless diamonds for some people who want to design their own engagement ring.
