A Place In The Sun host Laura Hamilton has shared that she felt suicidal after being bullied while at school.
The 39-year-old presenter made the revelation in a recent interview alongside her mum, Lynn.
Laura said bullies targeted her due to her love of studying and school .s.
She attended Kent’s Dartford Grammar School For Girls, and told the Things I Told My Daughter podcast that it was a ‘really sad’ time for her.
‘I remember being really sad, really really sad. I remember saying, “I don’t want to live anymore,” which is horrible.
‘I remember getting called into the office at school and them saying if I didn’t want to come in, I could do it at home.’
She referred to the institution as ‘a tough school’, w. ‘only about four people in the whole year’ wanted to work.
The TV star’s mum Lynn, 67, added: ‘She got top of the class again and the teacher called us in and said, “I’m really sorry, I’m not going to be able to put Laura at the top of the class because she’s been top of the class for the last however many weeks.”‘
Laura then shared that the ordeal she endured at the time of her GCSE exams ‘made her the person she is now’ and helped her ‘deal with negativity.’
Laura’s revelation comes after she shared the reality of her autoimmune disease, which causes her severe bruising and bleeding.
Taking to Instagram, she explained that she wanted to take a break from sharing perfect, polished photos and to expose the real effects her condition has on her body.
In one image she posted to her 140k followers, Laura holds up her arm while taking a selfie in the mirror, to reveal bruising on the inside of her arm.
She captioned the picture: ‘This week I might have posted a few photos in pretty dresses, but this is the reality of what is underneath and what you can’t see…
‘I have had bruising on my arms and my gums have been bleeding. This is ITP.’
Sharing an insight into what the disorder is, Laura continued: ‘Immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) is an auto immune disorder that can lead to easy or excessive bruising and bleeding. The bleeding results from unusually low levels of platelets — the cells that help blood clot.

Laura was inundated with support from her followers, who admired her bravery and thanked her for being open, as they shared their own experiences.
