One of Nigeria’s notorious kidnap kingpins, Chukwudimeme Onwuamadike who is popularly known as Evans has pleaded not guilty to kidnapping charges in court.

While in court, he boldly stated that he is not a kidnapper, but a businessman who conducts his business legitimately.

He was dragged to court by the Lagos State Government and on Tuesday, he denied all allegations leveled against him and denied these allegations when he was led in evidence by his defense counsel, Victor Okpara.

According to him, his nickname was not Evans adding that that he was forced to confess to being a kidnapper after police killed four people in his presence.

Additionally, he indicated that he has never met his five co-defendants before their arrest. In his submission, he said;

“I live at Fred Shoboyede Street, Magodo Phase II, Lagos. I am a businessman and I deal in ornaments and Horlicks. My lord, my name is not Evans and I don’t have a nickname.”

The case was adjourned until November 5 so that the final written addresses could be adopted.
