Mercedes Abramo has been promoted to the position of deputy chief commercial officer at Cartier.

Mercedes Abramo, previously the CEO of Cartier North America, has been promoted to the position of deputy chief commercial officer at the Richemont-owned luxury jewellery company.

Abramo will be replaced as Cartier’s North American head by Walter Bolognino, currently the EMEA managing director at Bulgari.

As on March 1, Abramo will be in charge of Cartier’s international commercial performance, network development, and pricing strategies in addition to serving on Cartier International’s executive council.

While in Geneva, Abramo will report to Renaud Litré, Cartier International’s chief platforms officer and senior vice president chief commercial officer.

In June of 2014, Abramo was named president and chief executive officer of Cartier North America. The luxury industry veteran worked at Tiffany & Co.’s Fifth Avenue flagship before taking over the helm at Cartier in 2008.

Bérangère Ruchat, previously the head of sustainability, has been promoted to the Senior Executive Committee, and Bram Schot has been appointed to the board, both of which were announced by parent firm Richemont on February 10.
