Sally LaPointe presented her Spring/Summer 2020 Collection at Spring Studios during the New York Fashion Week at the Spring Studio’s gallery. The color orange was a running thread from the set decor to the whole collection. The bold and vibrant collection is what Sally Lapointe is known for and that is what she delivered this season as well. For a runway, LaPointe laid down a plush extra-wide mandarin orange carpet. The 21-feet carpet extended to form a wall backdrop as well.

In terms of the collection, it was dominated by blazers. Capes and drapes were also a recurring element throughout the collection. Sally LaPointe picked up a palette of white, varying shades of emerald green and orange along with zebra prints on a couple of coats, jackets, and tops. This season, the collection was all about head to toe tailored suiting. The tailoring was clean and sharp, the silhouettes both body-hugging and flowing according to the pieces. LaPointe put especially emphasizes on the detailing. She also had her usual sequence detailing to add a bit of quirk. Though the collection screamed of monochromatic pieces (which were beautifully done), Sally LaPointe also played with separates split in two halves with different colors. Although it is not a new concept, it did work well in the collection.

Other than that, the accessories were also specifically curated for the season. Daryn Moore designed the block-heeled mules in various colors which were worn with every outfit on the runway. Milliner Rodney Patterson’s Esenshe designed the custom rabbit hair velour hats which we thought were quite stylish. Overall, Sally LaPointe’s Spring/Summer 2020 Collection was boldly happy, positive and a vibrant one!
