As we celebrate Earth Month, I want to share a story that is deeply personal to me. It’s a story of gratitude for the ocean, the environment, and how growing up in Malibu inspired my mom, Jenefer, and me to create a brand that gives back.

Our family has cherished the ocean for over a century, thanks to my great-grandmother, Elsa, who believed in the healing power of the sea. At 44, Elsa had a bad fall that left her bedridden. One night, she dreamed that the waters healed her, and the next morning, she asked her husband to take her to the Long Island Sound to swim. Elsa swam in the ocean every day for weeks, and her leg healed. My mom was inspired by my grandmother’s story and made the ocean a central part of our childhood. It was this deep connection to the ocean that eventually led my mom to envision our brand.

I was fortunate enough to grow up in Malibu, surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of the Pacific. Some of my fondest memories are of swimming at Zuma Beach, feeling the waves crash against my skin and the sand between my toes. The ocean was a constant, loving presence in my life, and I couldn’t imagine a world without it.

As a child, I was fascinated by the “Adopt-a-Highway” signs scattered along the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) and spent a lot of time picking up trash and daydreaming about contributing to the conservation of our beautiful coastal home. Little did I know that my passion for the ocean and the environment would eventually guide me toward helping my mom create OSEA.

OSEA’s mission is to provide clean skincare that not only makes you feel good but also benefits our planet. Our products are infused with seaweed, and made with care and deep respect for our skin and the environment. We are truly committed to using only the highest-quality, vegan ingredients, packaged in glass, and never tested on animals. Sustainability has always been at the core of everything we do, which is why I continue to be so proud that we’re a Climate Neutral Certified and Ocean Positive Verified brand.

This Earth Month, I’m thrilled to share that my childhood dream has come true. OSEA is sponsoring the cleanup of the PCH through the “Adopt-a-Highway” program. Since its inception in 1989, more than 120,000 Californians have cleaned and enhanced over 15,000 shoulder-miles of roadside. California will always be my home and the birthplace of OSEA. By supporting the “Adopt-a-Highway” program, we’re able to deepen our love and commitment to the state that has given us so much. Our support ensures that our iconic coastal road remains pristine for generations to come.
