I was about to start this off by saying “Remember last year when…” referring to 2019 and had to do a double take because 2019 is now TWO years ago! The pandemic has really messed with my sense of time as if we were all holding our breath in 2020 and trying to go on. I look at the calendar and write down dates all the time for clients, but my brain still can’t comprehend that 2020 is gone!
So, sheet masks kind of exploded in the North American market in the las couple of years and I am happy to see that they are still very relevant in the beauty world now as they have now become such a staple in my skincare routine. Back in 2019, there were a couple of brands who experimented with the idea of “scheduled sheet masking” with masks having targeted goals for certain days of the week. I naturally do this with my sheet masks anyway so that I don’t overload my skin with a series of extremely hydrating or detoxifying masks over consecutive days. A friend of mine from my Tata Harper days introduced me to a friend of hers who at the time, had just launched Bix Beauty, a weekly masking routine of three masks/week to detoxify, nourish and repair the skin over the course of one week. I was immediately onboard with trying these out and I had meant to get this review out SO MUCH earlier, but oh well, here we are now!
Sunday “Detoxifying”
A big part of the marketing for these masks are the “EWG level ingredients” which I get is very trendy, but I’m not a fan of the EWG so this is not something I look for in a product. These masks are free of phthalates, dyes, silicones and parabens and are made of 100% natural cellulose fibres. The Detoxifying mask features tea tree oil, witch hazel, lotus flower Extract as well as hyaluronic acid and oat kernel extract to detox and hydrate the skin. While I wouldn’t call this as purifying as a clay mask or exfoliating, it didn’t feel heavy on the skin and was a nice mask to end the day with.

Wednesday “Nourishing”
The Nourishing Mask is all about boosting the skin’s glow and bringing dull skin back to life with a blend of royal jelly and propolis extracts along with making sure skin is soothed with ingredients like centella asiatica, allantoin and chamomile. While I didn’t have as much of a glow as with some other masks I have used in the past, this one gave me a “mini glow” where I could see just a hint of glassy skin.

Other notes: My hair does stick to my skin a little, but nothing major and I can comfortably apply a thin layer of moisturizer of face oil without it feeling like too much.
Friday “Repairing”
What makes the Repairing Mask interesting is the presence of peptides! I love peptides in whatever concentration and you don’t see them often in sheet masks so this was a welcome surprise! Out of the three masks, I LOVED the scent of this one the most as it really did smell like lavender and citrus. This was the most hydrating out of the group, but to the point where it was tacky and my skin was sticking to my pillow.

Other notes: This was the most sticky on the face out of the group, but again it wasn’t terrible.
Final verdict: Each mask works out to be just under $5 CDN per mask which is pretty much in line with what you would pick up at the drugstore for a Neutrogena or Garnier mask at regular price. The ingredients and fit were quite good and perhaps better than some other masks I have tried at a much higher price point. I enjoyed using the masks so much that I have used up all 12 that I was sent! I would love to see a new series of masks from Bix Beauty as it was kind of fun masking on specific days with targeted masks – almost like wearing Day of the Week underwear!
