Hello, guys!! As promised, I’m back to the write up on the Fashion of the 21st century. In the previous post, we had discussed the rise of technology in the fashion industry in the 20th century. So, let’s take a step ahead and jump in the 21st century.

I always get inspired by the style statements of trendsetters. Because, they took baby steps to enter the era of the 21st century and they know very well, where to start and where to drop.

Having discussed this, one moment is popping in my mind. On my 18th birthday, my mom and I were planning for a grand birthday party. I wanted to celebrate my birthday with all my childhood friends and wanted to make it a grand affair. Because, after a few days, I was going abroad for further studies.

So, we have planned that we will host a party in a five star hotel. Everything was properly planned by my mom. Only one of the things was pending and that too because of me and that was my Dress. I was very confused about it. My mom suggested that I should try the gown of Alexander McQueen and dress up like a princess. At that time, I was not aware of the designers. However, my mom who is also a fashion freak, always gets the update about the trending news and launches in the fashion industry.

Oops, back to the point, so, finally I opted for an Alexander McQueen gown and a pair of Gucci heel with a Burberry clutch. I have never heard the name of these brands. This one was my first interaction with the designers. I was shocked with the pricing of the brands. I was like “why are these pieces so expensive?”. We will talk about this in the next blog.

As I said earlier, the fashion designers have started up in the 20th century with fewer techniques and plethora of thoughts/ideas. The past is always a source of inspiration for all of us. So, designers have taken inspiration from the past and have implemented all the thoughts for future.

Fashion had started with Europe in the 19th or 20th century and it was growing in Asia. But as of now, I can say that Asia is one of the inspirations for fashion across the Globe. Asians don’t have a need to look at the Europeans for innovations. They have set the unbreakable benchmarks in the fashion industry.

In the 21st century, people are not restricted to the clothing available in their community. They are experimenting with their looks, hair styles, accessories, footwear’s and so on. For example:

1. Men with ponytail

2. Women on ramp with bald-headed look

3. Men in skirt on Ramp

4. Men in check shirts for professional meeting

5. Women experimenting with colors for their bride looks

You will be able to find many more of these type of looks around you.

Apart from that, designer’s also experimenting with the new thing to save the planet. For example, few of designers have made dresses from recycled materials. Here, I am sharing a few of them with you:

1. Keyboard dress

2. Aluminum Drop dress: Made from recycled cans

3. Plastic bag dress

4. Plastic bag party dress

5. Newspaper dress

Hence, we can say that the 21st century, giving you options to fly beyond the limits. You are not restricted by orthodox type rules. Thanks to all the fashion freaks for inspiring us and giving the opportunity to think beyond imagination.
