Shear Talent School of Hair Designing is the brainchild of a talented stylist Taniya Naz who leads the industry in its changing phase with a strong heart, mind and vision. So given the chance to get a one on one, Fabogo stole 10 minutes from Taniya and her precious dedicated time to her institute. Here is what conspired:
How long have you been in the industry?
Way too long! I have been hair designing since I was 12. It was my passion ever since I can remember and it’s been a journey of 17 years with that passion. (We dare say, you see for yourself)
I have come a long way since then. Shear Talent has come a long way. It is a memorable journey!
What is Shear Talent?
The vision of Shear Talent School in Pune is to help as many aspirants as possible. The young talents today are savvy and eager to learn, all I do is give them the needed and deserved direction, experience and skills to rise and shine in the hair industry. That’s what Shear Talent School is all about. Since my roots are firmly bound to Pune, so is my school.

Tell us more about the Shear Talent School of Hair Designing.
The name says it all. It is a school for aspirants to learn all that is needed to thrive and survive in the hair designing world. We have 6-month courses at Shear Talent in Pune. There are a total of 5 courses with different advancement levels.
We take the minimum number of students in each batch so that individual attention can be given to them. This helps to nurture talent in an open and interactive environment. I can proudly say that more than 14,000 students have passed out successfully.

How long have you been teaching?
“It’s been over 8 years,” she says with a satisfied smile.
How do you think is education going to be a part of hair industry?
It is not just a part, it is an integral part! Education goes hand in hand with any industry. Knowledge is power and hair industry along with its upcoming masters, the rising stars, need this empowerment in their favour as much as anyone else.
At the school, we educate aspiring hairdressers and hair stylists so that they go on to become hair experts in the future. My students are ready to meet the demands and challenges of the continuously changing face of the hair industry.
It takes experience and skills to know the right haircut to suit a face shape!
What are your future plans for the Institute?
As I have mentioned before, I want to cater to more and more talent and aspiring artists at the Shear Talent School. When people have an artistic side to them, it needs to be nurtured and honed to make it shine.
Nurturing talents is very important but not everybody has the privilege or means to it. Thus, I am working with many organizations to help underprivileged children acquire new skills. I would also love to work alongside the government for the same cause.
That brings our limited 10 minutes with Taniya Naz to an end. By now it is evident more than ever that not only is she a seasoned hair expert but also a passionate educator of hair.
