Beautiful on the inside and out, we caught up with Mira to give us her five Makeup favourites that she just can’t leave home without.

Let me be completely honest. I am not always put together. In a week of the life of Mira (that’s me!), I probably put on my makeup about 25% of the time. There are mornings (many mornings) when I roll out of bed after hitting 20+ snooze notifications, looking like a complete and total hot mess because I’m running late for work. Coffee, oh ALL the coffee, comes to my rescue.

But, that’s taught me a lesson in makeup basics that bring together a beauty routine of my own. My morning frenzies on a weekday always take me back to a small but impactful piece of advice I read in an Allure magazine in my early twenties, doled out by none other than bombshell supermodel Heidi Klum: “Grab your shades and put on some bright lipstick.”

So, my morning war paint ably hides the fact that I was up till late watching (and sobbing to) Sleepless in Seattle, or perhaps trying to beat my own high score on the marathon version of Tetris. We all have our bedtime habits that prevent us from actually going to bed.

My Work Face

Looking good is part of the job, yes. It complements intellectual contributions and the impression you make, as much as I would wish otherwise, really matters even in the work space. You don’t need to look like Jessica Rabbit, but you do need to look well-put-together, groomed, and it helps to have makeup that shows just a little bit of your personality.

NYX Professional Makeup Wonder Stick

Contouring is perhaps the biggest makeup trend of our times (thanks, Kim K). But, you can’t always walk around with palettes and brushes and that’s why this NYX Contour Stick changed my life. If you use it right, it doubles up as a concealer and bronzer as well—instant cheekbones! My go-to technique is drawing the number 3 from the forehead, cheek to chin.

Guerlain Abeille Royale Gold Eyetech Sculpt Serum

I know it’s quite expensive, but you can’t put a price on eye serum/cream that can take years off your face. This Guerlain eye product reduces puffiness, works as an illuminator and provides great coverage for dark circles, and is very hydrating and moisturising too. (What hangover?) Besides, never skimp on skincare no matter how busy you get.

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick Cream (c) Finish, Anarchy

Remember Heidi Klum’s advice that stuck with me? Well, this is where it comes full circle. Anarchy by UD is my absolute favourite shade of bright pink ever! I literally have one lipstick each stashed in my purse, backpack, and car, alongside a pair of shades. In fact, I’ve found that the VICE lipsticks, in general, are very moisturising, last long, and don’t smear easily.

Givenchy Eyebrow Couture Definer

Price: £19

I could probably forego eyeliner, eyeshadow, and mascara, but I can’t not wear some brows. They just instantly frame the eyes and face while helping one look more sophisticated and polished. This one is designed so that you can define brows quicker with its thicker than the average point and mechanical design.
