The End of Summer

Wow, Friday. Already. It’s the Friday before the kids start school and life is about to return to the non-summer “normal”. Kids’ activities, soccer games, and homework for them,  and fall races, working concerts, and working races for me.

Life gets a little bit crazy.

Just a little.

Today’s Friday Five linkup with me, Mar, and Courtney is a “free” theme, which means any theme we want. So in honor of the end of Summer, I’m reflecting on it. Because it was really incredible and felt way too short. And I want to relive Summertime in my mind just a little bit longer.

The End of Summer Reflections

1. A summer of “yes!”. I love to try new things, and this summer’s theme has been all about trying new things, going new places, saying “yes” to friends’ ideas and invitations, and also re-experiencing things I haven’t done in a while. When asked to do aerial yoga, indoor rock climbing, outdoor adventures, or the trapeze (coming up soon!), I’m game for it. I will try anything, do anything, and love variety.

It’s also been “yes” to meeting friends for a glass of wine, a cycling class, or a girls’ weekend to Miami Beach.

Yes was the answer.

2. Fitness with friends. I’ve had great times biking, running, doing yoga and indoor cycling with friends this summer. It’s been a great way to get fit and be social at the same time!

3. Ironman Lake Placid. A true highlight of the summer was volunteering at Ironman Lake Placid, training on the course, and then registering for the 2017 race. I’m going to be devoted to Ironman training in the next year and can’t wait!

4. Reflecting and reassessing the blog. I stepped back a bit from the blogging, due to life, training, schedule, and just figuring out how to balance my priorities. I’m happy to say that I’m ready to move into the fall with renewed energy for the blog and social media with some plans for redesigning the site and adding useful content. I can’t wait!

5. Quality time with the kids. Reflecting back on my summer with the kids, it seemed too short but we had some awesome moments and memories, like our beach vacation. There were also many other memories of walks, talks, cuddles, and maybe even some jumping.

It was a busy, fun, and memorable summer. Now I’m ready for fall – cooler temperatures, less humidity, and the “routine” provides me the opportunity to focus on work, kids, life, and other responsibilities without as much distraction.

I hope you had a great summer too!
