By collaborating with professional rowers, the First Degree Fitness Newport AR Water Rower was developed to deliver the feel and sound of rowing on water.
As with real water rowing, the harder you exercise/row with the Newport AR, the tougher it gets because of the natural resistance of the water, thus enabling you to self-regulate the resistance. In addition, the FDF Newport AR rowing machine offers adjustable levels of fluid resistance.

The First Degree Fitness Newport AR Water Rower features a multiple chamber ribbed internal tank with triple bladed impeller system which effectively provides a natural jerk-free “catch” as you begin your rowing stroke. Strokes are smooth and fluid and the water can be easily adjusted from the inner to outer chamber by means of an easy-to-use dial to change the overall resistance profile, making it suitable for people of all fitness levels.
For example, when there’s less water in the outer chamber and more in the inner chamber of the tank, you will experience minimum resistance. When the water levels are even between the 2 chambers, you will experience medium resistance. When there is more water in the outer chamber and less in the inner chamber, you will experience maximum resistance. Resistance therefore, can be varied by changing the water level in the outer tank and/or the overall effort by the user.
You can hear a light “whooshing” sound from the water tank as you would with real water rowing which many people find very soothing.
The First Degree Fitness Newport AR Water Rower utilizes a belt-drive pulley system with 1” nylon strap and bungee cord for smooth quiet operation, retaining constant tension and recoil action. The handle is ergonomically designed to prevent strain on your arms, wrists and hands.
The height of the Newport AR’s seat is around 12” and it runs on precision bearings and Delrin low friction seat rollers along a concealed track. The footplates are height adjustable and feature safety straps for optimal foot placement and comfort.
The FDF Newport AR Water Rower comes with a Multilevel Computer with a USB port and displays motivating workout stats including time, distance, 500m split time, strokes per minute, calories per hour, watts and heart rate.
The FDF Newport AR rowing machine’s frame is constructed from strong durable anodized aluminum with a red finish, and is suitable for a maximum user weight capacity of up to 300 lbs. The machine itself can be stored upright to save space without having to empty out the water, thanks to its sealed twin water tank which has an 8 litre water capacity. There’s also built-in transit wheels for easy portability.

“The fit and finish of the FDF Newport Rower is excellent and the red color of the frame looks good. I found it fairly straightforward to assemble, would have liked a little more detail on mounting the seat rail to the chassis and some of the images were distorted which made it hard to see the details. Once assembled, I found this rowing machine operates very smoothly. A Water Rower does feel a little unusual compared to a traditional air or magnetic resistant rowing machine, but once I got used to it I found it very pleasant. The only point I would make to the manufacturer is to offer a way to increase the angle of the seat rail so we can increase leg resistance. Overall, I would highly recommend this rowing machine.”
