Eat A High Protein And Fat Breakfast To Control Cravings And Lose Weight

Breakfast is one of the most important meals of the day.  To reach any kind of fitness/health goals a person must not only eat Breakfast but also the right foods.  The body needs food as it has just gone through a long fast overnight.  Failing to eat breakfast will cause the body to break down protein from muscle tissue, which in turn will slow down metabolism.  Definitely something we don’t want when it comes to weight loss.

For most people eating carbohydrates for breakfast is not a good idea.  First of all, it will slow down weight loss.  Secondly, it will cause you to me more hungry throughout the day and increase cravings.  When I put a client on a high protein/fat breakfast for weight loss the first thing that they will notice is that they will not be hungry for many hours later.  Also their cravings throughout the day go down dramatically, which is what we want when it comes to weight loss.  I tell people to try this.  Have your regular high carbohydrate breakfast and take notes about how soon you are hungry after, how your cravings are throughout the day, and also take note of how much energy you have throughout the day.  Then I get them to have a high protein/fat breakfast such as eggs, or steak and almonds and take note of the exact same things.  Without a doubt the breakfast consisting of protein/fat as opposed to carbohydrates is superior.  I recommend the meat and nuts breakfast, which was taught to me by one of the top strength and conditioning coaches Charles Poliquin.  It may seem like a hard concept to grasp as most people are not use to eating these kinds of things for breakfast but once you get use to it the benefits are extremely powerful.

You will also notice that when you have the meat and nut breakfast you will not overeat.  Your body will does not crave protein like it does carbohydrates.  When you eat a high carbohydrate breakfast you are very likely to over eat.  Also for  many people a high carbohydrate breakfast will cause them to crash and be hungry again a few hours after eating it.  I should note that some people have a problem with nuts and go overboard with them.  They are very good for weight loss when eaten in very small amounts.

Some examples of breakfasts that I would use for someone who wants to lose weight would be:

-whole eggs

-chicken thighs with almonds

-buffalo patty with cashews

-salmon steak with walnuts

Like I said I know that this might seem weird but I challenge you this.  Try these breakfasts for a week and you will definitely notice a difference!
