Reebok vs. ASICS – What brand is right for YOU?

Many different Running Shoes have unique qualities for each Shoe that work wonderfully for each person that runs in them.

The right pair of shoes for you can make your runs comfortable, fun, and so much better than if you are wearing shoes that do not fit your feet properly.

However, finding a brand of Running shoes that will make your training amazing can be incredibly difficult, overwhelming, and intimidating if you do not have any information up front.

Therefore, doing your research before buying your new training or racing shoes is always a good idea.

This article compares Reebok vs Asics to help you pick which shoe brand would be good for your running.

Reebok:

When you think of Reebok you might not originally think of running shoes. This brand is known for having a wide variety of sneakers and athletic shoes.

However, they also have an awesome selection of men’s and women’s road running shoes.

The majority of the running shoes they sell are lightweight, generally around seven to ten ounces, and have a moderate heel to toe drop at around eight to ten millimeters on average.

Most of the shoes Reebok offers have a soft heel and forefoot cushioning while having a minimal amount of flexibility, which offers for a moderately stable shoe.

More stability comes in from the top part of the shoe, which is made of a mesh or other breathable material that helps stabilize your feet and ankles throughout your run.

The running shoes offered by Reebok are definitely budget friendly; the cost of one pair of running shoes ranges anywhere from $75 to $120 on average with a couple models of select running shoes that range all the way up to the $140 range of the price spectrum.

Reebok makes great running shoes for the everyday runner. If you are just getting into running or run lighter mileage a week on roads, a treadmill, or a track, these shoes would be a great fit for you!

They work seamlessly as comfortable work shoes or walking shoes into jogging shoes or cross training shoes.

However, if you are a longer distance runner, put in higher mileage per week, or run on trails more than roads, track, or a treadmill, these shoes might not work as well for your work out lifestyle.

ASICS:

ASICS is a Japanese athletic shoe company that is really the giant of the Japanese running shoe world.

With a brand name that stands for Anima Sana in Corpore Sano, meaning Healthy Mind in a Healthy Body, you can expect for good, supportive running shoes that will make for a blissful and beautiful feeling run.

This shoe brand has made a wide variety of shoes that include anywhere from trail shoes to minimalist shoes to cushiony, stability shoes and everywhere in between.

ASICS shoes vary in their heel to toe drop with some of the more minimal shoes having a lower drop, but most of their most popular shoes have a much higher drop around ten to twelve or thirteen millimeters from the heel height to the forefoot height.

They also vary in their weights since there is such a wide variety in types of running shoes available through the brand; their trail shoes and stability shoes are generally around ten to twelve ounces while their more minimalist shoes or their racing shoes weigh in at around six or seven to nine ounces.

ASICS has amazingly engineered technology that helps to maximize stability, support, and comfort even in the minimalist shoes that weigh much less than the maximum support running shoes.

If you are buying shoes directly from the ASICS website, it will be a little bit pricier, but if you are looking online in general, it is possible to find ASICS running shoes that range anywhere from the $50 to $60 range all the way up to the $120 to $150 price point range.

I highly recommend ASICS brand running shoes for any runner who finds that they fit their feet.

They have some awesome shoes for beginning runners or shorter distance runners as well as experienced runners or anyone who is putting away those high mileage weeks.

Not only that, but they also have shoes that will work great for any terrain, whether you run on a treadmill, a track, roads, or out on the trails. These shoes are sturdy to hold up to the mileage!

Conclusion

Overall, both of these brands produce some amazing athletic shoes!

As a runner who tries to get in a couple intense workouts, a long run, and some trails each week, I would choose the ASICS as they work best with my running lifestyle and tend to last longer.

I would also add that unlike Reebok, Asics is a running shoe brand. Whereas Reebok sells shoes for many different types of athletes. There is value to be being really good at one thing.

Reebok also has some incredible options for beginning runners to more intense runners.

For those of you who put away 100 or more miles a month, I would recommend ASICS as their shoes are built with you in mind.

Whichever shoes fit your body and feet best are ultimately going to be your best choice in making your training runs and races the most fun and comfortable as you can.
