Is helping others a virtue?

Helping others is a big virtue that needs no skills, qualifications, or expertise. You just need a mindset to help others.  When we help others, it adds to our happiness quotient like when we give to others it activates the areas of the brain associated with pleasure, social connection, and trust. Altruistic behaviour releases endorphins in the brain and boosts happiness for us and the people we help.

In times when people are so selfish that they cannot see beyond themselves, Helping others is indeed a virtue. Do you like being helped or helping others? Both ways, it gives you pleasure. Believe me, helping someone in need when he is expecting the least, will add to your joy many folds. You may not earn anything but would attract lots of blessings.

“Help others without any reason and give without the expectation of receiving anything in return.”

I have seen many times that the happiest are those who do the most for others.

Wise men believed that service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth.

Helping others in the times of need:

  • Be the blessing that others need.
  • Be the hand that lifts others.
  • You will never regret being good to others during their time of need.
  • Even words can be a form of helping others.
  • Many things can be a waste of your effort, but a helping hand is not.

It is crucial to offer a helping hand when you can. Whether it is helping a senior with their groceries, or helping build homes for the homeless, your acts of giving will not be forgotten.

As I say that, you would question what value helping others hold. Here I would like to share with you that helping a person, not only helps him but also helps you—this way we see that helping others has a dual benefit. Not only does it provide support to those on the receiving end, but it makes you, the helper, feel better too. Emotional Well-Being – altruistic behaviours can have a profound effect on a person’s emotional well-being.

True, it is a virtue that comes from within. You cannot do it by design. You have got to get it in you. But, even if you do it with an objective, it is good. Now you will ask, what could be the objective of helping others? How would it help me? Helping others can give us a sense of purpose and meaning in our lives. Knowing that we are making a positive impact on someone else’s life can be incredibly fulfilling and motivating. This sense of purpose and meaning can help us stay focused on our goals and push through challenges and obstacles.

Now that you have started helping others, you question yourself: Is it what makes me happy? When we give to others it activates the areas of the brain associated with pleasure, social connection, and trust. Altruistic behaviour releases endorphins in the brain and boosts happiness for us and the people we help.

Have you realized that helping others has added a new dimension to your life and given a new meaning to your life? It is not just that people who have already found their purpose in life enjoy giving back. Instead, helping others can create the sense of meaning we are seeking. Rather than ruminating on what makes our life worthwhile as we work towards burnout, we can find the answer outside ourselves, in human connection.

How does helping others help not only you, society but the world at large:

  • Multiple hands get the job done faster.
  • Offering a helping hand can inspire those around you to do the same.
  • Helping others might not change the world, but it can change someone’s perspective.
  • A helping hand costs nothing, but it can make a priceless impact on the world.
  • Helping others is a gift that keeps on giving.
  • Extending your hand in a time of need can change the course of someone’s life.
  • A helping hand can be a ray of sunshine in a cloudy world.
  • One of the greatest gifts you have is the ability to help those in need.
  • Helping hands work together to accomplish great things.
  • A helping hand can be the light in a world full of darkness.

Helping others is truly liberating but it is not always easy. It can sometimes derail your schedule and cost you time, money, and other resources. It can even be interpreted the wrong way. However, keep these tips in mind for some easy ways to show your connections that they truly matter to you.

Last facts:

  • Generous people who help others reach far greater potential than they could have on their own.
  • The givers are remembered fondly and are often publicly (and privately) thanked for their contribution.
  • There are different kinds of generosity. Those who know them benefit the most and achieve the highest positions.

We rise by lifting others!

Hence, rise to the occasion, help one and all, and be happy. There is no bigger gift than being Happy.

Our goal in life is to be happy and spread happiness!
