Surround yourself with positive people!

Why I am saying this is that you should surround yourself with positive people only, or at least with people who add positivity to your thinking. There is so much negativity around us…there is so much bloodshed, war, arguments, fights… whatnot. Sometimes it becomes very difficult to cope with such a scenario. You start feeling hopeless, life starts looking impossible. You started feeling negative not only about your surroundings but also about your life.

This makes you full of regrets. What is the purpose of your life, how long can you sustain in this scenario? You seek answers to all these questions and answers make you uncomfortable. In such a scenario, you must connect with people who bring positivity to your life, they may be your family, friends, acquaintances, or even strangers. As a first step, you should reach out to family and loved ones. Besides, social connection is an important way to reduce and prevent symptoms of depression.

“The positive thinker sees the invisible, feels the intangible, and achieves the impossible.”- Winston Churchill

Positive people can alter your perspective on life. They inspire you to believe in yourself. By associating with positive people, you begin to embrace their positive qualities as well. According to one analysis of relevant literature, ‘Positive thinking improves the ability to deal with stressors effectively’.

“Believe in yourself. You are braver than you think, more talented than you know, and capable of more than you imagine.” “Live the Life of Your Dreams: Be brave enough to live the life of your dreams according to your vision and purpose instead of the expectations and opinions of others.”

According to Rhiannon Whalen-Harris, M.Ed., OneEighty’s Community, Prevention, & Victim Services Director, One the greatest privileges I have in life is that I get to work with some of the most passionate people that you could ever meet. He adds, “Those are things that drive me in terms of just being able to say, ‘Hey, I get to interact with these individuals that are doing the really hard work and are making a big difference for others.”

“Each day, I come in with a positive attitude, trying to get better.”- Stefon Diggs

Being surrounded by positive people, help us build stronger connections with friends, family, and colleagues, and foster a more positive and Supportive Environment. It increases resilience: When we maintain a positive outlook, we are better able to bounce back from setbacks and challenges.

Now, you will ask me, do these things work?

To answer that, I would like to refer to a growing body of research that shows how our thoughts and emotions can shape the structure and function of our brains. When we experience positive emotions, like joy or gratitude, our brains release dopamine and serotonin, which are neurotransmitters associated with feelings of pleasure and well-being. So, staying positive can help create a positive feedback loop.

How does our brain react in such a situation?

Our brains are constantly rewiring themselves in response to our experiences and thoughts – a process known as neuroplasticity. That means when we focus on positive thoughts and experiences, we can create new neural pathways that work to reinforce positive patterns of thinking and behaviour.

Since research has also shown that positive emotions can improve cognitive function, here are a few reasons why staying positive is so important:

Improves mental health: Staying positive can improve your Mental Health by reducing stress, anxiety, and depression. A positive attitude can help us cope with difficult situations and challenges more effectively, leading to better overall mental health.

Enhance all the relationships in your life: A positive attitude can also enhance our relationships with others. It can help us build stronger connections with friends, family, and colleagues, and foster a more positive and supportive environment.

Increases resilience: When we maintain a positive outlook, we are better able to bounce back from setbacks and challenges. This resilience can help us overcome obstacles and achieve our goals.

Boosts physical health: Research has shown that a positive outlook can also have physical health benefits, such as improving our immune system, reducing inflammation, and lowering the risk of chronic diseases like heart disease and diabetes.

To sum up, a positive mindset can help you appreciate the good things in life and find joy in everyday experiences.

So, practice positivity, and HappyHo.
