Are you facing a “Motivation Deficit”?

Motivating yourself is hard. Hence, many of us face Motivation deficits. We always want people, situations, and circumstances around us to motivate us. But, meet disappointment most of the time. The best thing to do in such a scenario is to motivate yourself. You are the best motivational speaker and practitioner yourself.

“You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.” – C.S.Lewis

I would like to quote one of the exploits of the fictional German hero Baron Munchausen: Trying to sustain your drive through a task, a project, or even a career can sometimes feel like pulling yourself out of a swamp by your hair. We seem to have a natural aversion to the persistent effort that no amount of caffeine or inspirational posters can fix.

Naturally, all of us feel disgusted and rather frustrated when we are not able to Achieve our desired goal. Sometimes things just happen against our wishes, some other times things fall into place, better than what we had expected. So, life is about facing two sides of the same coin. It depends on you, how you face it – bravely or cowardly. You fight it out or you duck in. You will exploit your choices or else choices may overrule you. You must seek answers to these questions.

“Laziness, indifference, and lack of ambition are the results of lack of motivation.”

Here comes the role of self-motivation, particularly when you are surrounded by people who are not interested in assessing your situation or empathizing with you, and forget motivating you. So, what do you do? You need to be on the mental treadmill and go on running overdrive.

I believe motivation is a very personal matter, and the best is to remain self-motivated. It is like: Get up, dress up, show up…world is a stage, be ready for performance!

You need to figure out what would work around you and execute accordingly. What may work for me, may not work for you, and vice–versa. You are the best judge to assess what would work for you.

Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall” – Confucius.

Certainly, few strategies seem to work for most people -whether they are trying to lose weight, save for retirement, or implement a long, difficult initiative at work. If you have ever failed to reach an attainable goal because of procrastination or lack of commitment-and who of us has not?

Live by design, not goals!

Many researchers point to one thing: Goal Setting. Once the goals are set, you put a plan to execute them. This is how our official life works. If we achieve given goals and targets, we rise the corporate ladder fast and are termed successful. That way, we see that all marketing people and salespeople have targets that they achieve to sustain. Like salespeople who have targets, they close more deals but in real life, they seldom achieve their targets. Say for example, when an individual makes daily exercise commitments, they are more likely to achieve their fitness levels. But they are seldom able to achieve it. Hence, you must prepare a blueprint for your life and start living by design. You need to work out some “macro goals” and then top them up with “micro goals.” This way you will be able to achieve your goals in totality.

As a first general rule, then, any objectives you set for yourself or agree to should be specific.

“Magic is believing in yourself. If you can do that, you can make anything happen” – Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.

Goals should also, whenever possible, trigger intrinsic, rather than extrinsic, motivation. An activity is intrinsically motivated when it is seen as its end; it is extrinsically motivated when it is seen as serving a separate, ulterior purpose—earning you a reward or allowing you to avoid punishment. So here we need to understand that intrinsic motives predict achievement and success better than extrinsic ones do.

“Learn as if you will live forever, live like you will die tomorrow.”

It has been noticed that when people are working towards a goal, they typically have a burst of motivation early and then slump in the middle, where they are most likely to stall out. To avoid this situation, you should incentivize yourself. Finalize some reward for yourself like you will buy that car which you have been yearning for. But it should not be like after losing 20 pounds weight, you treat yourself with cheesy pizza, pastry, and wine!

“All our dreams can come true if we dare to pursue them” – Walt Disney.

Another way is giving and getting advice may be an even more effective way to overcome motivational deficits. Last, but not least, there is a need to change the way about the progress you have achieved. Suppose you have already made headway and the goal seems within reach, and instead of increasing the effort, you tend to go slow on your effort. Do not get hit by this roadblock so that you are not far from your goal.

Be happy about your achievement, spread happiness, and happyHo.
