The Geometry Of Winning: Pursuit Cycles 2019 LeadOut

Bozeman’s Pursuit Cycles have just announced the release of their new model for 2019: The LeadOut. It’s an appropriate moniker for a limited-edition handmade carbon fiber frame that is built by a small, dedicated team from start to finish in the USA.

Only 35 specimens of The LeadOut will be made available to the public and, seeing how quickly their MARK 1 sold out, demand for the next Pursuit will be high. Considering the quality of its manufacturing, it’s no surprise.

Pursuit calls The LeadOut a ‘Stage Race’ design: the geometry is such that all-day riding is comfortable. It’s a strong climber, a rapid descender, and is stable in the corners. Modern tech is combined with a timeless silhouette, and it has the looks to match.

The LeadOut is a disc-specific frame with a 142×12 thru-axle in the rear, a Ti T-47 BB shell in the middle, and a tapered steerer with an IS headset up front. The real drawcard of The LeadOut is, however, the fact it’s made by real American craftspeople in the USA.

Pursuit Cycles was founded by Carl Strong, the Montana frame builder who has more than 3,500 frames under his built over a 30-year career, with a like-minded group of partners who believe in a high level of quality domestic manufacturing.

A frame and fork with a Chris King bottom bracket and headset will cost US$6,200, and there’s a slew of complete bike and paint options available. Why you’d opt for a Pinarello Dogma when there’s handcrafted quality like The LeadOut available is beyond us.
