After fillet brazing the tubes of her customer’s frames, Adeline Mercredi won’t file them down to a smooth curve. She’s developed a personal philosophy regarding this process, centered around the mantra of ‘Good Vibes Only’, and it works for us.

It’s a MO that has resonated deep within the custom Bike world this year, a refreshing reminder of why we love riding bikes. After a recent tour of the States, Adeline is back in the UK and working through her customer list, which included this road bike for Paul.

Paul asked Adeline for a road bike that would bring him back into cycling after a hiatus, and she responded with this frame that’s a mix of Columbus HSS and Life tubes, fillet brazed in her honest signature style, topped by Columbus’ Futura Caliper fork.

The paint was inspired by a work by the British artist David Hockney: a 60-canvas vision of the Grand Canyon, an immense attempt to capture the vast, ‘un-photographable’ space of Arizona. The three block colors were laid down by Cole Coatings Workshop.

Not only will the ‘Good Vibes Only’ credo remain a constant inspiration every time Paul looks at his new bike, the colors will also provide a prompt to remember how small we are compared to the natural landscape, and how much of it there is still to ride.
